    Default Order Snafu ?

I placed an order with Spikes over the web on Saturday, and my credit card was immediately charged but no confirmation E-mail was sent. Of the hundreds of times I have ordered online(24/7 regardless of store hours) from all over the globe you always get an automated E-mail response showing the items, prices, etc. within a few minutes(usually within 1 minute), and your charge card is not charged til your order ships. Is your system on the fritz, or is this business as usual ? Looks like you have some cool stuff, but I'm apprehensive as this is my 1st order with you and have never had this problem with any vendor before.

    Thanks

I really think you're worrying needlessly. At least give them till Monday afternoon before getting worked up. Spike's isn't some fly-by-night company. You'll get your stuff. Just because it's not exactly the same routine as others, I wouldn't call it a "problem with a vendor" until they actually cheat you.

They might not have charged your card so far, that might be just an authorization. If you haven't worked on the billing end of credit cards, first there is a request from the vendor to see if your card can hold the charge. This is an authorization. Normally the credit card companies show this as a pending charge or may even show up as charged depending on how specific your vendor is. This appears for a short period and if the vendor never does anything with it, it will drop off. It's kind of a pain since the credit card companies typically treat it as a charge when comparing it to your credit limit. Anyway, after this authorization, there is a second transaction from the vendor where they actually do charge your card and it becomes final.

I would guess that Spike's might just have been testing to make sure your card could take the charge. Either way, I've known a LOT of folks who ordered from Spike's and have been very satisfied. As zoomie said, Spike's isn't a fly by night company.

Del-Ton does this too. My shooting partner ordered one of the kits from Del-Ton and he thought his order was shipping when he saw the charge, but then it disappeared and when he called them, this is exactly how it was explained to him.

Go with zippy on this one. I have ordered from Spike's plenty of times. What you are seeing is the . authorization. You will probably get the shipping and final charge onMonday probably. They are good people.
