Welcome, I can't comment on the 6.5 other than regurgitate reams of information you've probably already read except maybe When I was shopping around 6-7 years ago the proprietary nature of the 6.5 turned me off, for example brass was 1$ a round at that time. I haven't kept up with the 6.5 to see if that is still the case....and if you're in Texas academy carries a better selection of 68 rounds.

I can say I'm very satisfied with the performance I've gotten from the 6.8. I moved up to it after noticing the weakness of the 223/5.56 on hogs. It's a very efficient round. I've only used AR performance barrels and haven't been given a reason to order anything else. I've got a 16" equipped with gen 3 night vision that's taken some big bruisers down out to 150 yards, most have been 40-60 yards. I've got an 18" that shot a 3/4" 210 yard group when sighting it in, and I'm slowly building up a 22" triad barreled gun that will be my daytime setup. The 18" will get a thermal on at some point.
