However, the OP's question is not what type of bullets should be used by the military if 6.8 SPC were to be adopted, it's what types would be used.

That 105 MKZ is pretty cool, but neither it nor the 95 Barnes likely would be used by the US Army, judging by the types which are currently in use.

Since 6.8 SPC is meant to replace 5.56 NATO, it can reasonably be expected that the same types of combat loads would be required as for 5.56mm:

    - Ball M855A1 Enhanced Performance Round
    - Tracer M856A1
    - Dim Tracer, Mk301 Mod 0
    - Armor Piercing M995

Other types would be needed for training purposes:

    - Blank M200
    - Tracer M862 (SRTA)
    - Tracer XM1037 (SRTA)
    - M1042 M1071 Close Combat Mission

what about mk318 and mk319? they are barrier blind like the CBB's

If you reload, turn a flat based bullet around and seat it backwards in the case with apx .170 of the full dia part of the bullet left outside the case. Chamber it. If it chambers you have a SPCII. If not start seating the bullet deeper. If the full diameter part of the bullets ends up apx .070 out it is a SAAMI chamber.

I was only addressing hypothetical use by the US Army, which (AFAIK) does not use Mk318 or Mk319.

IMO, it's pretty much certain that SOCOM would want a SOST bullet to be developed for the 6.8 SPC.

As for the USMC, who also use Mk318, it's less than certain if they would want a 6.8mm SOST load.

Cool thing is I can make any bullet they want.
Tracer, AP what ever is required.

That is indeed cool. Of course, you would have to compete with Lake City...

Yeah it has. Actually, I did try to return quite a while ago, but it was after the security update. Unable to log in, I just let the matter slide until now.

P.S. I had seen Cavity Back Bullets discussed in the Grendel forum, but had no idea it was your company. I must say that I'm shocked to learn you're making 6.5 bullets. Truly shocked. (J/K)

Hammer forged 16"or 18" ARP-5R design barrels with something like S&B FMJ's or better maybe even better than that for special purpose; I don't think our General could go wrong with 6.8
I don't really know what I'm talking about but I had to put my two cents in,,

I kind of have gotten over the whole cartridge war thing.
I do know what each is capable of now though. It still does raise my ire when folks try to make one out to be more than it is.

As to projectiles for the Grendel I was glad to help it out too.

I am not ready to go public with my military bullet design yet but its a green bullet and will do all they want.

Cool. When you're ready to share, I look forward to seeing it.
