X-Caliber 416R fluted 16" AR308 barrel @ 31.7 ounces.

This allows me to keep the Juggernaut 18 inch on my Tactical Machining upper.
I think that the Juggernaut barrel has polygonal 5 groove 1:10" rifling. From what I am seeing, the X-Caliber barrel is available in six different 6 groove twist rates and a 1:7 twist with 5R rifling. What rifling did you choose for the X-Caliber?

Man, I need to get a pimpin' blue couch cover like that! :a01:

I'll try to remember to post a pic after bead blasting. I can measure the twist rate if you want, but assumed it was 1:10?
I can almost hear the porn music playing too. :a21:

That photo was from the eBay add X-caliber posted the barrels: X-Caliber barrels and they listed an 16 inch fluted 416R 1-10 AR 308 barrel for only $175

Photo of the new look barrel would be great.

Picking up my Mag Tactical lower AR15 receiver and the Xanthos AR308 set tomorrow Tuesday the 8th.

Yeah, we've heard that line before. LOL :a04:

Pure Gun Porn

Picked up my Xanthos receiver set, amazing quality. Has the screw for the rear takedown pin under the pistol grip. There is also a screw for tightening the receivers.

Lowers weighs 7.15 ounces, Upper 8.9 ounces, receiver set 16.25 ounces.

Completed lower with SSA-E trigger is 18.60 ounces. With NF Polymer Accu-trigger lower is 17.05 ounces.

Picky picky With a digital scale you can be between two numbers so they add up differently. So the total weight is a better gage.

More accurate would be grams as it has more divisions, but we don't think in grams. My scale is accurate to 0.1 grams, and my weights are accurate to 0.1 grams. You wouldn't weigh gold or silver on these weights and scale, but when I put 200 grams of weights on the scale it reads 199.9 grams.

A better weight set could cost as much as a barrel. A weight set for scientific work could cost over a $1000

OK, pic after reprofiling that barrel. 31.3 oz on my scale.

Drool Drool, I can't wait until it gets here. USPS tracking has it here the 14th. It will take 20 minutes to finish the upper.

Now if I can get that CF pistol grip it will complete the look. That could cut 0.5 to 0.7 ounces.

The 2A hand guard will be out soon (under a month) and 2A is working with Faxon barrels on their own 2A marked 308 barrels.

I expect they will make the lighter Wilson Combat AR 308 rifles look down right heavy.

4.8 Pounds for now

Just finished the upper, came in at 58.4 ounces. With the lower at 18.6 ounces total weight is 77 ounces or 4.8 pounds.

I have to shoot it ASSAP, just so many projects at home.

In order to get down to 4.5 pounds I would have to have a 16 inch barrel weighing 29 ounces.

I know Salt Works has done a demonstration barrel at that weight. Maybe Faxon will produce a true pencil weight 308 barrel.

Also really want a lighter CF pistol grip. At 1.1 to 1.3 ounces it would cut 0.5 to 1.0 ounces over must grips.

They are now making titanium carrier pins for the AR15, logical to also make them for the 308.

What is the brand of the carbon fiber rail you used? I have googled lots of carbon rails and all have higher weights listed than yours.

It is custom made. I start with a Clark Custom aluminum barrel nut and cut 3/8 inch off it. Joe ordered 6 feet of the super light carbon fiber, I have 2 of them.

Everything else is at least 2-3 times heavier.
