That's a decent twist if you plan on loading subsonic rounds for suppression, might be worth it if you ever plan on that. If not, I will keep my opinion out of this.

My 6.8 has one of the older 1:10 twist barrels from DPMS.

It has been reamed to SPCII and seems to shoot alright, although 120 gr Hornady is the heaviest I have currently tried to use in it so I won't comment on anything more because I don't want to speculate. So far so good though.

Thanks for the info. I use mine (Model 1 upper on a DPMS lower) mainly for plinking and just-for-fun target shooting. (And home/self defense should the need arise.) It doesn't need to be a "Super Match" rifle. It's been a while since I decided I wanted the SPC II chamber so I need to do some research to bring myself up to speed on the chamber issue before I decide. So I'm off to the search page.

    Thanks again,

I ended up sending my barrel to Ballistic Advantage in FL, and they did a phenomenal job on the chamber reaming. I had the chamber reamed from Spec I to Spec II. At first, I shot some commercial Hornady ammo through it, and the accuracy was terrible. What I didnt know is that the barrel twist was causing the bullet to shed its jacket, thus throwing off the symmetrical spiral. Once I reloaded some Barnes 95 TTSX with some AA2200, it was a completely different story. The all copper bullet and powder was a very accurate combination which gave me .5 in groups at 100m. Bottom line, I would use Ballistic Advantage for any and all barrel or chamber projects. Class A company!

If someone with a reamer does not chime in, I believe you can rent reamers for almost any caliber from http://4-dproducts.com/index.php

This may have been covered prior in one of the 33 pages of this thread, but time is money for me, so I'll take my chances asking:

Will these reamers work on the ruger mini-14 ranch rifles in 6.8?

When I had mine done this morning, it appeared the handle of the reamer was specific to the ar upper reciever. I know the man who did it said he had a handle that worked on another rifle, I just can't remember which. I sent him an email asking about the mini 14. I let you know asap.

ROPO68, this is what he said,Only if the barrel is off of the receiver.
Otherwise it requires a pull type reamer
