Any 20" 6.8 A2s? Also, opinions on RRA Mid-Lengths

I like the feel and power of a standard 20" A2 rifle. However, it looks like 6.8 doesn't get much from a 20" barrel.

Second, it seems RRA is the only 6.8 kit producer that is taking orders. Would you rate their 6.8 1:10" twist middy to be a quality 6.8? I've heard they don't blue under the FSB. But I've also heard their (Govt. models anyways) are used by the DEA because of their ruggedness during a 2 week test. Does RRA keep all of their rifles to this kind of spec?

On another note, Armalite also produces a 6.8 with 1:10" twist but do not list the chamber specs. Armalite, as of recent rifles, seems to be on the ball quality wise with their 5.56mmm versions. Improved bolt as well.

Going from a 16 in to a 20 in should net you about 100-150 fps depending on which round you go with. If you like the look and feel of the the 20 in A2, then go with that. Although you may wind up having to build your own. I know that Stag has the model 7 which is a 20 inch model, but its not in an A2 configuration. As for RRA, most owners speak highly of them here on the boards!

I like the A2 also. I built a 6.8 A3 with detachable handle 1/4" X 1/4" rear match sight, service rifle "under the handguard" free float tube, WOA 2-stage trigger, Cavalry Arms A1 length stock with an A2 butt plate and Cardinal Armory 1/11 twist SPCII barrel 20" long. It looks identical to a standard A3 service rifle. It's not too heavy because the barrel is only .880 under the hand guard and fluted. Combined with the larger diameter hole inside, weight is very reasonable.

Because of the weather have only done basic break in and sight zeroes. I'll post plenty of information around April or so, including chronographing identical loads though 14.5, 16, 18 and this 20" barrel. Accuracy comparisons between Noveske (Pac-Nor), Compass Lake Engineering (Douglas), White Oak Armament (Wilson or Criterion) and finally the Cardinal Armory/Kotonics chrome lined chrome moly barrel. All the others are stainless.

I am in love with the JP VTac forearm and the ACE skeleton stock and Hogue grip combo as shown in this picture. Although, I would use HK drum sights instead of a scope. The VTac and skeleton stock just scream to me run and gun.

Noveske makes a VTac series rifle just like this. I'm sure I could get it customized with a 16" Noveske 6.8 barrel and ACE skeleton stock and FSC30 muzzle brake from PWS. Maybe even PWS piston system.

The 20 inch Cardinal Armory barrel would have been perfect for you if they were still around. RRA offers A2 uppered 6.8's if that is what you want. 16-18 barrels are by far the most common. If you go RRA, you'll be in good shape.
