Default Mounting options for savage 111 .308

Ive got a Savage 111 in .308 that is going to be my primary pig gun, and a vx-r that I just got for it. Im having trouble figuring out what setup I want to go for mounting it. Would you go one piece, two pice, qd? I can't decide. the scope is a 2-7x33 so I want to go with low rings. Just can't figure out exactly which direction I want to go with it. Any suggestions?

First of all I love savage rifles. I collect 99s and I have a 340 in 30-30. All are very accurate. I prefer the two-piece bases. My father is a machinist and says they are better but I can't explain why. Something about heat and metal expansion. I wouldn't go the QD route unless you were going to remove the scope regularly. I have QDs on my t/c encore and they catch on briars and look goofy to me. It really depends on your usage. I hope this helps.

I would just run 2 piece bases as its not like your goin for a 20 moa slope or anything.

I have a two price weaver base but I can't seem to find 30mm weaver rings. I thought my local place had them but no luck.

Many manufacturers produce 30 mm rings that match the Weaver bases. The Weaver base is a semi-standard in the industry.
Try Midway, Natchez, Widners, Amazon, etc.

Will low rings work with a 33mm objective? Cause midway has the low qd rings on sale

I have a Savage 111 light weight, with a 2-7x. I used some Talley Rings (med height I think) to keep weight down while providing a solid mount. I am very happy with the end result.

I will dig it out later today and snap a pic for you.

I'm definitely impressed with my savage right out of the box. I like the low rings too just kind of iffy on the two piece mount the way I have it.
