Nice shot and congrats!
so, I've taken my baby hunting *for long walks in the woods rather* several times, typically the sheep *public hunting area* are very elusive and IF I see them they are HAULING BALLZ, so I went for a long walk today, decide f'it I'm going home as I'd like to get there around sundown.... so I start my long walk back, decide, ah as a last ditch effort, I'll circle around upwind and creep down to my truck, I'm kinda familiar with the area and I can find my way back to a road if all else fails... so I blindly hike up the side of maunakea heading kinda south east if I had to guess from the west side of the mountain... then start going back downhill to find my truck, I see a big hill of rocks, decide it's a good place to look around. scale it, and I could see the treeline where I left my truck like a few hundred yards away, stoked, gonna go circle up even higher keeping my eyes on the trees so I have my point of exit...
I sneek around for what feels like forever, then decide, f- there's nothing here anyway, all the scat was old and I haven't smelled or heard anything all day *I was there for like 5 hours at this point* so start tromping making all kinds of noise just trying to get back to my truck, and wtf do I see a big herd of sheep about 60 yards out B lining up the mountain apparently they heard my loud azz lol. I tried to pop one on the run by but they were moving fast so I didn't even hit one*only took one shot tho*
decide, well, after that gawt dammed spectacle there's for SURE nothing stupid enough to let me shoot them NOW... so, I decide screw it, going home, walking back again loud as all hell, I look up to my left after a couple hundred yards towards my truck and I see a shape that looks kinda like 2 sheep a ram and a ewe, so I decide to take a better look thru my 3-9x prostaff :P , sure enough kinda far since I had it on 3x but sure enough a ram and his ewe, I try to setup my bipod on the dead tree I had it sitting on for a better steady shot. put my crosshair on his chest, keeping it there for a while, debating if I want primo meat or a rack LOL, decided I needed a rack as I've never shot anything besides birds. line him up again, take the shot, see him looked like he dropped but I couldn't tell, so this is HIGH elevation and I take off towards him in an excited sprint since it's my 1st real kill. get half way there and am winded already LOL, slow down to a walk, then decided fugg it, if he's not hit good he could be somehow trying to escape, speed up to a jog, get to where I thought they were, and couldn't find him... see no blood or anything, thinking sh!t, did I miss? I suppose I need more target practice... look to my left and there he was, did drop on the spot, my calcs of where they were was slightly off when I was running out there watching the ground since it's tall weeds and downed tree's and brush lol.
upon cleaning him, I realized the bullet entered his neck on the left side, exploded his heart and blew through ALOT of stuff and out his rear, he was facing me dead on, they both were and I decided not only did I want the rack, but he was a bigger target and like I said, besides birds and fish, this was my 1st kill lol. I was phsyc'ing myself up to eat his heart raw too LOL then when I gutted him I saw ALOT of blood in there and realized his heard was shattered/explodedanyway, he looks smaller in the pic, I'll get one of him tomorrow before I skin him.
been trying for sheep for like a month now. we have plenty of pigs and I have a funny story about how I got 25' face to face of one but that's a different story lol. here's the only pic I got for now. it was 6pm and I was in a rush so didn't get any other pix or even turn his head lol
here's what I do with road kill or stuff I don't wanna eat, plus we feed them raw so anything I don't have to buy is a plus...
that's our 1yr old bullmastiff, she's not full grown but she's probably going to be stunted, we got her as a rescue after our pup passed away, we got her as a warranty lol. I figured we were lucky to get a 2nd chance and was happy to get another pup so didn't complain, wifey was pissed lol. but she loves her too. here's a quick vid

they can eat bones from most animals when it's raw, so after she got it down further in the 2nd vid, I got bored of watching so threw her in her kennel with the last of it, 10 minutes later not even hoof was left lol. she ate it all. every inch of bone, fur and hoof lol
we feed them pretty much whatever, lungs, kidney all the stuff I don't plan on eating anyway, legs since there's not alot of meat, that one was fresh roadkill, it was a sheep also. if I were to shoot a goat, I'd feed the whole carcass to the dogs as I'm not a goat fan. welp, be back in a few, last time I logged in was like a month ago when I was building my 6.8
thanks for looking,
Tom

Congrats on your first kill. I am sure there will be many more to come
Oh and great looking dog. I feed my girl raw too. She loves all the deer bones, and makes very short work of them. Shatters deer femurs in one chomp lol.

yeah, I'm down, when's good for you? hopefully we can schedule something soonish, I've hiked up there like 4 times and this is the only time I've seen sheep in the gma-A *gun hunting area* but I've found fresh scat and I know where some of the herds sleep but my truck is hella loud with headers, no cats and crap lol. so I'm looking at getting little 4 banger that's stock for hunting so I can drive it up closer without having to scare everything off.
here's a pic I got my wife to snap before I skinned it.
my PRIMARY target is mouflan but there's not much of pure ones out in the hunting area's so hybrid is damn close. I'm also wanting deer but I'm not sure we can even shoot them here... gonna pm ya my number feel free to text or call, if I don't answer leave a message, I got 3 kids and alot of stuff going on all the time lol. but I call back soon as I realize I had a call usually.

oh, the open rail on the front left of the gun is where I mount my LED surefire but it's not legal for using artificial light for hunting in HI so I take it off when I'm hunting. but after seeing how it blew through a ram length wise at almost 200 yards I think I'll stick to my saiga 12 for home defense with either wax slugs or regular birdshot lol. I have a surefire on it too so don't matter I guess...
