    Default Slide re finish

My slide on my Kimber pro crimson carry is blued and already starting to show some holster wear. I have all the stuff to do "gun kote" but I was wanting some opinions on what type coatings you all would suggest to refinish it when the time comes.

A nice pc. like that? I would send it back and have kimber do it for you to hold value.

It gets a lot of use and holster time. I didn't expect the blue finish to last. It is just starting to wear on the corners where it sits in the holster. I may see what they can do about it, but rather than re blue it I'd rather go with a more durable coating.

I would send it to Dave Severn (Severn's Custom) for his Hard Hat treatment.

While it's being re-done... I'd have the holster lined with glove leather too (if no already done). Dirt/grit can/will get into the flesh side (suede) of the leather and can add to the wear you're seeing.

If you carry it, it's going to happen. My P7 looked mint when I bought it but after years of carrying it, the finish is wearing on sharp edges and the font of the slide. I think it gives it character. One day I'm going to have to send it to Robar, but that's my last resort.

    Go with the gunkote
    It's a quality finish
Just do the prep, keep it clean and use an airbrush.

Now what color are you going with?

I bought a Israeli surplus Sig 228 a while back that looked like it came out of a garbage disposal, and ended up sending it off to US Anodizing for a strip and type III anodizing on the frame and phosphating all steel parts, then spray and baking whatever finish they market (their Navy package.) By far my favorite handgun to date.

I have a P220 that my brother bought to carry on duty, which is now pretty well worn. My fav shooting gu, but looks a little rough. I had planned to send it back to Sig to have it refurb to factory new, but I like the look that you gave yours. Mind me asking how much it cost for the refinish at US Anodizing?
