Fine wheel gun. Rub it down with some Flitz polish on a soft cloth, then wipe with a clean soft cloth. The blueing will POP with shine. The cloth will turn brown from picking up the salts used in the blueing process.

MichiganScott: Yeah hopefully there will be some running around one day,(Grandkids). It's funny when comparing it to my first pistol (SW9VE) or Sigma to those of you who never look at the bottom shelf in the polymer section of the gun store, the two don't even seem like they are from the same planet. The sigma's a good truck gun and I take her out and clean, oil, and switch magazines from time. Maybe take it to the range and make sure she's still kickin but that's about it. I love the fact that it's always there and ready when I need it. I don't think I would ever leave the mag in my truck for a second, even it was just to go into the store.

OC455: Yep, the big N. I would like to get some 180 grain rounds from buffalo bore and try some stalking when deer season rolls around. There's something awesome about walking around the woods with a big wheel gun looking for something to take home and eat! Although I haven't looked up the laws about pistol hunting in VA and NC. I need to get on it!

Ratdog: Thanks for the tip. This is my first blued pistol so the info is well appreciated. I will pick her up and give her the good shine. I've never really payed attention to how awesome a blue finish looks, but it is killer. It's almost like they don't even make new guns like this.

That's a great piece and you will love it. Pistol hunting in Va. is legal in most counties just check online with VDGIF web site for specific counties here's there link
    http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/ .

Personally I like to use Iosso Gun Brite Polish to clean older guns, cleans all the crap off and enhances the bluing, haven't tried Flintz.

Know what you mean about growing up poor and having nobody to play with. Momma used to tie a pork chop around my neck so at least the dog would play with me.

Great story and a very fine gun. My Dad has a Remington shot gun made under the browning patent told him I would take good care of it when the time comes.

Nice gun and really good story. My grandparents raised me from the time I was three. I only have one possession that belonged to my grandfather. A S&W 32 long revolver. I've bought, sold and traded numerous guns, but that one, will one day make its way to one of my four grandchildren.
It has no price, I would never sell it.

It's a funny thing that took me about 25 years to learn. Never sell anything. I realize now how few things I own now that I've had since I was a kid. I think I'm down to a baseball glove that I still use for softball and a few select sports cards that are worth a tiny bit of coin. Everything I've ever sold I've regretted it at some point in my life. So now I don't ever sell anything. I'm not a hoarder, except for ammo, but I try to hang on to things knowing that If I let it go, someday I will say "Man I wish I still had such and such." Like my surfboard, sure could use that on these blistering days.

    Flatliner,
Treasure it just like he did! I inherited one (a S&W K frame) from my dad when he passed, and I will not sell that one! It's about the heritage and the right to have it.

Very nice. I have all of my grandfather's pistols; and even though a few of them are junk and cannot be fired safely none of them will ever leave my collection.

I have a Sears Ranger 20 ga. bolt action and an 1870 Vetterli that my Grandaddy left me. He is the reason I hunt, fish, and shoot. He passed away in 2003,and I miss him every day.
