    Default 150 grains loads?

Picked up a box of 150gr PSP Sierra pills the other day. Anybody every work up a reasonable subsonic load for bullets in this range? I've seen loads for 130gr, but nothing much higher. I have a Cardinal Armory 1:11 twist barrel, and a Gemtech HVT QD. See where I am going? Of course I'd want to make sure they are stable first before running them through a can. Exit hole on the HVT is .375, so there is a bit of wiggle room.

    Thanks in advance.

HTR has worked up a 150 and 160 sub load but he has to cut the lead tip off to fit mag ; and says the round has an arc like a rainbow at a 100 yard. Maybe PM him and ya'll can figure it out."""" Note all loads he has will not cycle and he has done gas work to the gun to boot"""", so good luck and let us know what the light was at the end of the tunnel.

Yeah i would say the main thing is your COAL but other than that it will go bang. there's even a load out for the new berger 148 gr so i can't imagine why it wouldn't work. if you have to compress the powder a bit then that's fine as long as the pressure is in check.

I really don't see any 150gr load data in the posts so far. I've searched through the forum and found one load reference for a 150gr bullet in

    http://68forums.com/forums/showthrea...light=subsonic

that was for 150gr Nosler BT - AA2230 24.5gr 2.29 COAL 2200fps. But this is 4 years old.

I have some 150 gr Bergers I'd like to shoot through my 6.8. I'm not worried about velocity. I'll load them single shot or clip the tips to fit in a magazine. I have some Trail Boss to try which would be subsonic and probably keyhole. Also, some H4895 or Varget which might work to get velocities around 2000 fps. Any recommendations for powders and associated recipes?

My good news for you is, I'm so VERY close to getting a usable subsonic 6.8 load with 150-grain bullets. The bad news for you is, you're not going to be able to use *those* 150-grain bullets, and you probably won't get there with anything short of changing your barrel. What I've found is that the length of the bullet has everything to do with how fast they have to go to stabilize. The very long bullets with a nice high BC, pointy ogive and boattail are gonna' go through the target sideways if they come out at only 1100 fps. My twist is even higher than yours -- 1:10 -- and I've tried using bullets much shorter than yours with no luck. I'm guessing the bullets you have are Sierra Gamekings (their #1840), which nominally are 1.250 long; my latest attempt was with Speer Boat Tails which are only about 1.21 long, and they didn't QUITE get there. I now have some that are 1.065" long and I bet those will do it -- though they're roundnose, and may not really have sufficient effect at only 1100 fps

I played with Win748 and the berger 140s IIRC ( cant find my notes...damnit) I started out at 22g and 1600fps, and the bullet stabilized out of my ARP 1:11. I didnt get any real accuracy out of it until I got up to the 2200-2250fps range.
