Default New from the Old Dominion

Been looking for an AR-patterend rifle, but the more I read about the 5.56 and direct gas impingement, i wasn't too happy...looked at 7.62 NATO, but most AR-patterend rifles are gas impingement.

Then I had a stroke of genius...found out that Barrett makes a 6.8mm PISTON AR!

When this deployment is done, I will have to own one!

Welcome to the forum. How much does the B piston 6.8 sell for? I personally don't mind totally breaking down my ARs every 500 rounds or so and giving them a good cleaning. Gives me a chance to look at the internals and replace parts as needed. Maybe I'm just old school but I like the DI operation. Good luck with you piston 6.8 I'm sure it will give you years of shooting fun.

There are other Piston ARs' if you can find a CMMG 6.8 SPC they are affordable type and good reviews and the warranty travels with the upper, they stopped making them this year to go with that 300 BO crowd. Stag makes a piston upper and great CS. Ruger does also so far...but its older SAMMI chamber and 1 in 10 twist 6 groove. My piston 6.8 SPC is my Mini 6.8 that turned out to be a good shooter, and is Spec II reamed now, and fits my needs. I kept it. I also got an ARP that maybe DI but since its a hunting rig not a blasting and the best speced rifle and barrel I could get at the time for the cost. But to be fair, my searching didn't show the CMMG upper there and when the others did come out to the more affordable area, I already committed to the ARP. But the people here convinced me for my need of hunting, not blasting me a DI hating piston lover, went with the DI as it fit the need and the use not as much as a blaster. And I found they were right on the money with their advice here. But then I already had a piston 6.8 SPC already in my Mini 6.8 so went for the ARP.----but there are other great AR piston makers if your looking! If money is no object you can find one with ease!

Welcome from where you are, lol. What service are you in? Regardless, stay safe on deployment. If you get/ build the Barrett, pics or it didn't happen, lol.

hello fellow SE Virginian. I live in your neck of the woods, and plan on doing some buying after this deployment as well.

Hit me up when you get home.

Have you been to the range over by NS Norfolk? I've shot 9MM over there and I saw people with the M16. I don't know what their rifle rules are.
