    Default CEB Raptor Loading Question

For you guys that have already loaded the CEB Raptors. Have you shot them without the tips? I ask because in order to keep my max COAL of 2.80(mag length). I have to seat these right at the top edge of the first band from the hollow point end, if I want to use the tips. Should I be concerned with seating them this far? Or should I just load them for 2.80 w/o tips?

Just wanted to load a few to take to the range this Saturday. On a side note, I did order some PRI Mags this morning before coming to work. So, I can get the full potential from these rounds.

I am assuming you only got 25 tips so only half your bullets can be tipped. I got enough tips to test all with tips, but according to ceb you can tune your load without, i would just keep in under 100yds. If i where you i would tip one bullet and compare with a untipped. Then when seating compensate for the added lenght. If you loading to 2.295 the mouth should be right around the middle of the first ring, but that is based on case length. I loaded mine at 2.290 with 31gr. Of aa2200 and was getting a 1/2" group at 100 yards with hornady brass and cci 41's.
Next time you go to the range make some money. Just catch or retrieve your 6.8 brass and sell it.

I never shot any without the tips and I don't plan to. The bullet has such a huge hollow point, that I don't want them hanging up on the feedramp. The short magazines hurt this round. I hate them, and will not use them. Demand that anyone who manufactures 6.8 mags, should allow for 2.305" OAL. Demand it with your dollars and don't buy mags that will not. I am hopeful that CPD will make theirs less expensive than PRI and allow for the proper length. but, for now, the PRI's are what I use.

I also think that we should be asking for ammo makers to start loading longer, and make 2.30" the maximum COAL for the AR platform. Special thanks to Wilson Combat, for taking their premium ammo out to 2.295 and stating they are for use in the properly spec'ed, updated SPCII. SSA is doing that also now, with certain rounds, kudos.

This CEB Raptor is built just right, so that the first driving band sits in the case mouth, when loaded out to 2.295".

Thank you gentlemen for the responses. These are some lethal looking rounds. Probably will hold off loading any until I get the PRI Mags in.

Got my 2 10 round PRI Mags in Saturday. Unfortunately, it was after my trip to the range. I measured both, they both show 2.313 ID front to back. Is this correct?

Both of mine come in at 2.300 on the nose. I have had them for about 2 years now and have been my go to mags since then. But I still only load them to 2.295 max just to give them a bit of room.
