    Default Mag Differences

Ok, noob to the 6.8, but I have a question. What is the differences between a .223 AR magazine and a 6.8 SPC AR magazine? Other than the SS vs Aluminium swelling issue, is it the follwer that is the main difference and could one change the follower in a .223 mag with one for the 6.8?

Sorry if this has been asked before.

The internal dimension ( the ribs ) are wider, the feed lips are a little different and the follower is different to allow the larger cartridges to fit properly.

Sure, you can put a few rounds in a 5.56 mag.

It may work, but you can't call it reliable.

Pretty much sums it up. My guess is that several hundred people have tried it.

Plus, most 6.8 mags I've seen are stainless steel to prevent the mag from bulging when loaded.

    Default One more question.

May I add one more question regarding 6.8 SPC magazines? Do they use the same springs the 5.56 magazines?
