There is no way to know on a forum. A picture can add #100 just as fast as it can take away #100. To make assumptions about others hogs either way on the enet is pretty bold. I agree that most people tend to shoot high on there guesses. Not to show off... Just lack of experience. I see it in my own family. You cant expect an accountant out of houston to dial it in like a born and raised rancher who looks at animals on a daily basis for a living.

good formula but trying to remember all those #, just add 1/2" to girth and multiply by 10 and subtract 205 and that gives you the same.

I have a good bit of experience in the 200 and down category. Something approaching 300lbs or more, I would imagine my guesstimates would become more flawed.

    Here is an estimating tool:

I think the hardest part may be to get your eye trained in that measurement for on the hoof estimates. It seems very doable. similar to estimating B&C scores for deer and other animals on the hoof.

Anyone know of any body references on a hog? like the average distance between the eyes, or average length of the ear? something that doesn't vary as much between sexually mature animals?
