    Thumbs up 1st Contender for me...and it's a 6.8 Rem SPC !

I'm new to forum today, as is my latest venture a 2nd model T/C Contender pistol with 14" blued 6.8 Rem SPC barrel. I joined for help in getting it going, and doing in deer this fall. Here's my question list....
...> I need brass, looks like 40-50 pcs of once fired SSA would be best for me...large or small primers...either ?
...> For deer bullets, Sierra 110gr Pro-Hunter looks good, so I'll have to trade or sell the Nosler 140gr BT's...right ?
...> What would be a good staring load my gun with the SSA brass and the 110gr Sierra bullets .. ?
...> I have the factory open sights, but will want a scope at some point...what would you suggest for me,
but not break the bank on optics....?
...> Will I need any special buttstcock or forearm different than factory T/C's to tame the beast ..?
    ...>Thanks !

    Welcome!

SSA is all small primer as far as I know. SSA is good stuff.
140gr is too heavy for decent velocity in the 6.8. 85-120gr works best.
People seem to like the Sierra 110gr Pro-Hunter for deer. You could also look at the 110 gr Accubond, or the Hornandy 120gr SST.
There is a ton of load data sticked at the top of the ammo section.

You will have to excuse my ignorance on the Contender, but a 14" barrel + a buttstock = SBR. Welcome to the site sir, always good to see someone using the 6.8 in a non AR platform!

If i where hunting deer i would want atleast a 16". SBR's are great for night stalking and those close up shoots.
Next time you go to the range make some money. Just catch or retrieve your 6.8 brass and sell it.

I believe he is talking about a contender pistol.

BTW, this might be helpful to the OP http://68forums.com/forums/showthread.php?22338-6.8-contender-pistol-data-plus-questions

    Welcome aboard!
You might want to have it reamed out to SPC II chamber to be able to shoot all ammo.
The ammo has been talked about.
Optics - Personal choice. Your looking at around 250yrds+/- (300yrds with SPC II loads) est. max on deer & hogs. But, I could be wrong.
No, you shouldn't need a special buttstock. It's not that big of a cartridge. 375 JDJ maybe?
