    Default zeroing in my scope?

So.im gonna mount a simmons 44 mag scope on my AR. I dont think ill be hunting with this setup (5.56). Its a 3-9x scope. Would 100 yards b a good range to sight it in at or should i go further. I may plinck with it up tp 250 yards but prob rarely more than 100 or so. Im just not very familiar with optics. Thanks

Mine are sighted at 100 but, a lot of guys sight in for 50yds which gives them a 200yd zero also. That way you're good for a good range with a little hold over.

50yd zero gives u a 200yd zero? you lost me there. i sight all my guns at 100yards just because most my shots are 100-150 so just depends on what ur common shot is gonna be

Yes. With a 50yd zero you will be zeroed again at 200.

Think of bullet trajectory in an arc, and your aiming line in a straight line going through that arc. Where the lines intersect is your zero so on the upward slope of the arc they intersect at 50Y, and on the downward slope of the arc they intersect at 200Y.

yea i might go with 50 then. some guys at our range club were doing a shoot at 185yards i think for accuracy. i wasnt there. but my dad said he wished i would have been so i could have kept up with all their bolt guns with my black rifle so i might finally throw a scope on it cause i actually wanna see what kinda groups i can get around 200 yards and such
