Yup that thing is pretty much useless and just a great way to get the BATF all over you. I'd rather save for the real thing.
Got it out of the catalogue when I was with D.C. SWAT. We called it "Gucciflage"

Definitely NOT legal to change the filter.

"Q: If the outer tube is destroyed or damaged beyond repair, may it be replaced?

...the replacement of the outer tube amounts to the making of a new silencer. For the registered owner to fabricate a new outer tube, he or she must submit an ATF Form 1 (5320.1), Application to Make and Register a Firearm, pay the making tax of $200, and receive ATF approval."

I foresee a Youtube user making friends with Bubba at Club Fed. Local Class 3 dealer was ROFL when I showed them this.

Now we use nothing but Wix, which are not the best but we do get a great price and they are of ok quality. BTW, napa and carquest filters are all Wix. Donaldson is the best you can get, and Baldwin is a close second. But for a cheap suppressor, I think Fram would work the best!!!
I wonder how many rounds it takes to burn out a fram's insides?

Good question, hows "Not enough" for an answer?

Thinking about it, why would you need the adapter? There are oil filters out there with a 5/8s thread, I know some are a 18 thread but Ill bet you there is one or two that are 24 thread. Have to use a fuel filter for a 1/2x28 thread but I bet that is out there somewhere too. I would not advise using it on a pistol, the filters would be a bit to heavy and maybe bind the slide or cause wear issues.

Hmm... Looks like a GM Diesel Truck filter is 5/8x18, no 5/8x24 common (available at NAPA) filters. You can specail order them though.... So when does packing a spare oil filter become intent???
