Hello fellow 6.8 users :-p I bought a 6.8 upper for xmas last year and had some questions. Question 1: what's the difference in 6.8 spcI and spcII? Question 2: when I try to remo e the primers from my empty shells my die gets stuck. Any reason for this? I am lubing the cases before hand and never ran into this problem with lubed cases of other calibers. Question 3: does anyone have a 18" or 20" barrel for sale? I'm thinking about upgrading to a longer barrel length for hunting. Thank you all for any advice

Welcome to the forum. Feel free to post tech questions in the appropriate tech forum as you need. Check some of the stickies as well. I will try to get you started though.

1). The SPCII chamber is to the 6.8 what the 5.56 chamber is to the .223. It is a little longer in the throat area of the chamber to lower pressure. The cartridge dimensions are the same, but ammo loaded for SPCII (or the other improved chambers) may be too high pressure in a SAAMI chamber.

2). Stuck how, when removing the case from the die? Are you using Hornady OneShot? Try posting some details of the problem in the reloading section.

3). Lots of 18-20" barrel options. The 6.8 is a very efficient cartridge though and going longer doesn't earn you much more velocity. There are some 24" barrels, more 20" options, but 18" is considered the longest popular length.

What Upper do you currently have?

Usually if its Spec II your about good to go with about any Factory Ammo. Spec II is the most important part of the barrel to have so far from the readings I been doing on this forum.

For barrel length the 16" one is the sweet spot for performance, at 18" you gain about 30-50 FPS but no main increase in accuracy from what I understand from the experienced people here.

I myself went with an 18" barrel for my choice for the extra little umph out of the rifle. My first 6.8 SPC a Mini 6.8 gave me no choice on barrel selection, but since then its been reamed to Spec II and I still have it. Both fill a function for me.

All Stags should be SPCII

I don't know about the 5, but the 7 has 6.8 spcII 1/11 stamped forward of the gas block.

I picked up a Stag 7H upper a few weeks ago,20.77'' SPCII ,1/11 with m4 feed ramps,i have shot it about 500 time no problems at all,mostly hand loads,i really like the upper.
