Many here have used the A5 system with good results.
I am building my first lower for a 16" Noveske Recon with Switchblock (bought from a member here). This is a mid-length and I will be using a brake, just not sure which one as yet.I have ordered the VLTOR A-5 buffer system with Emod stock. I was sold on the Emod and decided to do th whole kit because i needed a buffer system. Figured the A-5 would help tame the 6.8 a bit more than a standard carbine buffer. This system uses a M16A2 spring with a standard A5 buffer that weighs 5.3 ounces. I should have asked before buying but you know how it is once you get the browser going and the shopping cart full. Anyway, can anyone see any reason why the A5 system would not play well with the mid-length Novese upper with a brake? If the 5.3 oz appears too light, they also offer 6.1 and 6.8 ounce buffers if needed. Thoughts?

My mid-lenght was built using the A5 system(AR Performace 14.5" socom L barrel) and runs great, no issues.
Thanks. Resting easy.

Ihave an A5 system on a midlength 68 and I really like it I want to get more time to test it on all my other upper combinations

Excellent! I look forward to reporting back when it is completed. Thanks to all for feedback!

The A5 is probably the best buffer system available.
The std 5.3 oz buffer should be all you need.
I believe Noveske tunes their uppers to work reliably with a rifle buffer, which the A5 closely approximates.

John Noveske told me to run a std H buffer and the std carbine spring when I asked a while back, and it has been flawless for me.
H buffer is 3.77 oz BUT it is using a carbine spring.

I have two lowers with the standard A5 setup and I've used uppers with carbine, middy and intermediate gas setups and calibers from 5.56 to 458 S with no problems.
