Not trying to get political and I"m not experienced in a combat zone, so the following is only my inexperienced thought: bad idea. Seems to me just like the abolishment of "don't ask, don't tell". It does nothing to enhance true combat effectiveness and will ultimately weaken our fighting capability.

We never took our females to set up and defend bare bases because of hygiene issues. They couldn't sit and sleep in DFPs because of higher risk of infections etc. I can't imagine this being much different.

It's natural progression, the lines between gender lines has been blurry for years. Integration at some point will happen, probably in most of our lifetimes.

Easy? No Way, and much time will need to pass for it's 100% acceptance.

When I was active duty, it was a non Issue, not many women around period. I'll be honest, I'm glad I didn't have to live through any kind of transition, I knew the brother to the left and right of me would cover my ass. I've met some ass Kicker women, just look to some police women, they can hold their own, it's more about attitude, then training, then strength(women can be strong as well), I saw many substandard recruits pass Basic.

How soon before Women will have to register for the draft, think of the stink that will cause, and it might even be a political talking point of a Presidential election!!!!!

I'll watch and see how it goes.

For me its simply about keeping people alive. Im about 200 lbs, carried a saw in iraq, generally with about 600 linked. gear and weapon included i was around 260. I don't know a single female marine who, with her own gear on would be able to throw me on her shoulders and buddy carry me if need be to a safe place. i know many male marines who can, and have done it.

there are other obvious ramifications including sexual harassment, fraternization...which would inevitably lead to favoritism and decrease a unit's cohesiveness. Not to mention the female psyche is much less able to handle strenuous situations and death.

These are simply my opinions without getting political. It's going to cost lives.

The man in this link is a former Commandant of the Marine Corps and his feelings coincide with mine. Its a somewhat lengthy video but worth it.

In 10 years, where do you think we will be in the integeration cycle?

If put to a vote, and I could vote on it, I'd say HELL no, but I think they will put it to the test, and 50 years form now they 'll be saying we should of done it sooner.

Maybe in 10 years we won't be able to say War is a Bitch, F@@@en PC BS.

I think the first few classes that go through this will be test subjects and i don't think any females will be permanently assigned to combat units though they will have combat MOS's. I think that they will probably be assigned a temporary duty station for a year or so and that unit will likely have to complete a survey at the end of that year. I think the Commandant will read every survey. I think, and i hope that in 10 years this will be phased out. I think that will happen pretty quick, thinking more like 5 years.

Only thing to do is sit back and watch...just glad ill be a spectator during all this

Russians had women in combat almost 70 years ago, if they are each physically capable then more power to them. Not to get political, but not allowing someone to defend their country in anyway they are capable because of the way they were born is pretty stupid. And @Marinesg1012, the armed services are donating more to the current bosses reelection fund than any other candidate. Maybe they are just happy to get a boss that didn't send them into a quagmire based on a lie.
