Default Reloading Equipment List (For the Beginner)

Hello and welcome to the reloading world.
I have seen many threads concerning what equipment is needed to start reloading. So I put this list together so the beginner has a idea what equipment is needed. These are generic suggestions, but each item has a needed process for reloading metallic rounds.

This list is not a suggested kit since each person prefers different styles, manufactures, and personal preference.

Also all these links are from Midway USA only, you might be able to find them cheaper elsewhere. I just wanted to keep it easy for me and searched one site. Most of the links are RCBS just to keep it uniform, I am not saying RCBS is the best. What I am saying is do your research and figure out what works best for you and fits your budget.

But please ask questions about a specific item you are looking to get since there is a wealth of knowledge on this forum. Most members don't like to answer wide questions like "what equipment do I need to get started?". I don't feel like doing the research multiple times, but I will be more than happy to give my suggestions on a specific item or component, as would most members here would do the same.

I did not list any pre-assembled kits because each kit has it's pro's and con's. So assembling your own kit ensures the best bang for your buck and still retain ease of use, durability, and accuracy. So do your research for each component of the custom kit and ask questions in the form of another thread about specific components.

For the experienced members who have suggestions about this list please add your comments and I will add them, but please include links.

Next time you go to the range make some money. Just catch or retrieve your 6.8 brass and sell it.

Great list. Thank you for putting it together.

If you don't mind, I'd like to add an item for those that don't like/care to use the standard powder measure. And are trying to get started with as little cash out of pocket as possible. These work great for my needs and are inexpensive.

This is a really great list. I'm not big on overspending for stuff, so I went with the Frankford Arsenal Digital Scale. I tested it, and it was within .1 grains of all the weights I tested (5, 10, and 20 grain). And at under $30, was a little easier to use than the beam that came with my RCBS kit (which really needs a workbench bolted to the floor to be accurate). The FFA scale is battery powered (AAAs), so there's no worrying about interference from other items on the same circuit (like florescent lights).

A couple recent edition reloading manuals and the ABCs of Reloading if you don't already have 'em. I'm only a few months ahead of you on this - learning as I go, and this forum has been a big help.

    Thanks for the sticky 68WJ.
I spent a few hours putting this list together, so it is nice to see my labor has not gone unnoticed.

baldy220's suggestion have been added. I can't believe I forgot the trickler. Thanks for looking out.

Lunk's suggestion is also added. I never thought about using those as a alternative. Good idea for the reloader with a limited budget.

rlandrum if it works for you and your getting the results you are looking for then great. This is the reason I mentioned the list isn't a suggested kit, it is just a list of items that will be needed to produce a reliable, accurate, and SAFE round. I personally went down the cheap scale road and man it was a bumpie one, so I dropped the cash and never looked back.

sgedicks I did put down the Lyman load book and the ABC's to reloading. It is #6

Is there any kits that include most of this?

For case lube, i like the spray option. No dented shoulders, and less goopy. Maybe this one?
