I live a little in the country and I am sitting on my back portch and up,walks a flock of turkeys. Hum I could easily shoot with my GSG 5 and the thoughts of jail come to mind. So,I,call my bud who,lives next door since he is a bow hunter and that is OK in NC dang he is not home. Oh well!
So anyone eaten a wild turkey what do they taste like? Chicken!

Spot on... Great advice. Since there is a lot less fat, the meat will really dry out on you if you aren't careful. Injectable marinade will keep everything nice and moist on the grill/smoker. You can also bake it, covered, with it simmering in chicken broth and champagne (delicious). There are a number of good recipes on the net. Look around...
On another note, where are you located? In Texas, you can hunt turkey with a rimfire (Rio Grandes, not Easterns) and I have been doing so for the past 4-5 seasons. It's a fantastic way to hunt turkey; no earplugs and it's extremely quiet. In fact, there have been numerous occasions when I have fired, taking a bird, and the rest in the group just gobble at the shot lol. They also gobble when thunder cracks and our cows moo (great way to locate them!). I'm going out tomorrow to see if I can bag one.

Can anybody say bacon wrapped turkey breast. Just typing that made me hungry, now I have to go and order room service.
Wild turkey breast is excellent when cut in strips, rolled in a mixture of salt, pepper and flower and then fried in about a quarter inch of oil until browned slightly. Then cover and fry a couple of more minutes with the lid on. It only takes a few minutes once you brown it. The legs and thighs are so tough they make a tough gravy but you can tenderize by pressure cooking with celery, salt onions and bbq sauce. Makes a pretty good bbq sandwich. Tastes like turkey to me but as stated earlier is darker than domestic turkey!

What I meant was after typing out that delicious idea I had to go and order food because the very idea of bacon wrapped turkey made me so hungry I had to eat something. Although after looking at the room service menu they do have a good selection it's just the boss would crap a gobbler when he saw my expense report with some of what the items cost in the menu.
