    Default 6.8 overkill for coons?

    just kidding
was out last night, no hogs but had directions to zap any coons if they were out when it was time to wrap it up about midnight

popped two dead between the eyes with the 110g TTSX at about 70 yards

suffice it to say, they didn't go anywhere
and an exit would where stuff usually exits
    complete penetration!

Sweet. I need to do some coon hunting of my own. I have a bunch of them eating off my feeders.

Over the summer I hit one at a little over 200 yards with my 6.8 shooting handloaded 115 SMK's. I was a little dissappointed with the results, he took 3 shots before he stopped moving his legs. 2 were in the chest 1 was in the stomach, obviously the wrong bullet for the job.

Did it tear them up? I was thinkin about coyote hunting with mine this year and coons will come into my calls also, coons hides are going up in price, heard up to $35 for a xl prime.

I think next time I am going to bring my 22 rifle, it's a little CZ and is a tack driver with subsonic rounds and will be lights out hitting a coon between the eyes without making too much nose

No next time try the new SSA with the 90 TNT and I think you will be very happy with the results. I shot one over the sumer and it was a big fat one that had been on the hog feeder in the live trap for over a year. Well the shot was about 75 yards and it tore him in half. I mean that literally to. Th only think holding him together was th hide about 1/4 the way around. Everything els was tore complete apart. The spine, end trails, rest of the hide, except that small strip was blow all over the side of the cage and hanging off the wire.
So those bullets do EXPLODE on impact with thinned skinned game. Mine were loaded to 3150 fps     '

That is THE bullet for small varmints you do not want the pelts from for pelts the vmax is much better as it goes in first then blows up.
