    Default Accupoint 3-9 X 40 Mil-Dot Crosshair - Question

I've been looking for one of these with a Red dot in the Mil-Dot version. All I can find for sale is the Amber and Green Dot versions so I went to Trijicon's website and they don't even list a red version. Does anyone know the reasoning for not making this scope with a red dot?

My concern is that Amber will suck during the fall and Green might suck during real vibrant spring time. I love the red dot on my AimPoint and wanted to stick with Red and didn't want the triangle or standard version.

I guess I might have to breakdown and get a green dot or choose a completely different scope. I'd hate to spend that kind of money and get something I'm not really happy or excited about.

I never thought bout that. I got the green mil-dot version. I will say that the green is more like neon with the fiber optic power. I can't really say much about the amber but I would assume it is more of a neon color. I absolutely love this scope and you would have to pry it from my cold dead hands before I part with it.
Next time you go to the range make some money. Just catch or retrieve your 6.8 brass and sell it.

So you've never had any problems with the Green. I guess maybe I should just get the Green dot version. It is strange they didn't make a Red Dot version since Red has been around much longer. Did you get a LaRue mount or something else?

Most guys run the post version not the mil-dot, but I have been using mil-dot for a while now and it is working for me. I like to have a quick reference for doping and the mil-dot does that for me. Now the illuminated part is only the center of the crosshair not each mil-dot, and the dot is the size of a pin it's very fine. The green is very vibrant and very easy to see no matter the conditions, plus the glass is super clear and superior low light capabilities. The low light capabilities is what I like the most about this scope, since most of my hunting is dawn, dusk, or spot lighting.

I have the Larue SPR mount.

Well I just ordered the Green Dot version of the Mil-dot. I'm looking at the Larue mounts. I see several SPR mounts which one do you think fits this scope the best?

I went with the LT104. It is low and as far forward as it can go without getting too far.

I have a couple of these in Amber: http://www.laruetactical.com/trijicon-accupoint-3-9x40-mil-dot-crosshair-amber-dot-and-lt104-1-mount

Seriously, these are very clear/superb optics at this price-point and doubt you'll ever have issues w/ your green nor w/ an amber dot if you ever add another one.

Since you've already purchased your Trij scope, I'd call LaRue to ensure you get exactly the mount you want (SPR LT104-1 likely). LT mounts aren't cheap but you'll never regret spending the $ upfront vs. replacing something inferior and their customer service is pretty much best in the business.

For anybody else looking @ Trij scopes not from LaRue, Brownell's has some great prices... Slightly better if you're LEO/.mil/dealer/or whatever qualified.

As an example and one of my favorites, especially for the E-Plains of CO (sorry, this one isn't 6.8):

I was in GT Distributors and the countersalesman showed me some sort of $750 Weaver Tactical I don't recall if it was 1x4 or 2x7 ?..but a lowest magnification it had a red aim dot and at 4x it had a holographic mil dot reticle..with a boatload of aiming points for elevation & windage..and if you didn't like the green reticle you had the option of a red reticle..
Why too much crazy optics for me..

I wonder how good the glass is and if it stays zeroed fairly well or not?

On my dedicated hunting rig w/out BUIS I, too, went with the 3-9x40 w/ green mil-dot reticle in a LaRue LT-104 SPR mount, and, since I'm not planning on removing the scope, I used the VFZ mounts instead of the QD levers and saved myself $50.

Wonderful glass, high quality, and very effective in those low-light situations. I have a fair amount of range time with it and some limited hunting time over last season, and, yes, it holds zero well. If you opt for QD levers, the return-to-zero seems to be very good for that mount as well from the feedback I've seen.
