    Default Favorite scope mount?

So, what is your favorite scope mount and why? Im working on my first 6.8 AR and I would rather not do the rail riser again.

Mines the AD scope mounts. Built solid, good RTZ, Can change the rings out for different size scopes without buying the whole mount. just buy the rings to save money, They also make a 35mm for the millet scope tube. They come in different eye reliefs and you can get them in either 1 or 2 cam locks.

I've had very good experience with my Burris PEPR mounts, however... once the budget loosens a bit, LaRue Tactical LT-104s will find their way to my rig(s)... a feller NEEDS a stock of "Dillo Dust".

I use the LaRue mounts ...not cheap, but solid as a rock. Not saying there aren't other ones just as good, I just like the LaRues.

LaRue. Guaranteed to return to zero within .5 minute. Excellent customer service every time. Quick release or option to not have them if it's something you don't need. Can change just the ring portion of the mount if need be for a different size tube. Just an overall outstanding product.

I run an ADM mount and love it but would like to try a larue on another rifle to have both. I don't think anyone on here has both to compare.

I have a Leupold Mark II mount and find it solid but very heavy. The quality is there, but no engineering to limit weight and retain strength.

Aspp: Because I'm relatively new to the AR rifle, I wasn't ready to spend hundreds of dollars for a one-piece scope mount for my 6.8 upper. I wanted to get some experience with cheaper components before settling down to a favorite.

I lucked out and picked a PEPR first. It works out just fine for my heavy scope, which needs all 6 screws tightened to keep from sliding under recoil. In retrospect, I wish I had picked the cheaper non-QD model though. I suspect the bolt-on's RTZ is better and it attaches easier than the mediocre levers on the QD version. For work at the target range, its not inconvenient to carry a little 1/4" drive socket wrench to tighten/loosen the bolts. The same goes for civilian use in the field.

Because of this experience, I bought a bolt-on mount from Primary Arms for my light general purpose scope, a older fixed-4X by Bushnell. The PA model is lighter, has only 4 screws per ring and only cost $60. Its rings are too narrow to hold a big heavy target scope, but its just fine for the 13 oz Bushnell. Again, no need for the QD levers. The bolts are more secure, more repeatable (I believe) and almost as fast as the levers on my PEPR. Hope that helps - CW
