There is a marketing firm handling that aspect of the forum now. Their info is in the "advertise here" link or the sponsorship sticky in this forum.

One member's input on it. When I use this forum, I scroll down to where the "new posts" link button is visible (at the top). Personally.... if I must "see" these new ads, I'd MUCH rather look at the ones for ACTIVE sponsoring vendors, instead of the "buck of the day" ones brought in by some marketing salesman in a cubicle that doesn't even know what a 6.8 is. Showcase spots belong to those who contribute more than just an ad-buck to pay for band width... they belong to the folks who log on and provide help to the membership too. "At the top of the page" isn't always a place to be seen "the most". Put the "ad of the day" down at the bottom of the page.

    Thanks 68WJ! I didn't know that!

RD does have a point, especially since Ruger dropped the 6.8.

I know they are still tweaking it, but you know as much as I do right now. Is the top banner offset on everyone else's screen too?

So far the ads I have seen have been pretty standard fare for commonly linked to sites anyway (Brownells, CTD, etc) and current sponsors. I hear your concern RD, and think that service will always outsell signs.

Yes, the ads at the very top are pushed a bit too far to the edge (note, I was careful NOT to say "too far to the right")

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't knocking having new sponsors, most of what I've seen have been great sources of resources. I was simply commenting on what becomes "center stage" during the membership usage experience. And, suggesting that our best get the best.

Must be something wrong with the old eyeballs because I never see the ads. Damn cataracts!

I was just gonna post a thread on this topic. but someone beat me to it.

I think it's great to have some new sponsors. I think it's good to have some gear/accessory mfg's and ammo sales. All very welcome additions to the site IMO.

So welcome aboard to the new sponsors. Some have already had some of business and others are likely to get some in the future.

I haven't looked yet, but do the new sponsors have a subsection in the forum now? If so like RD said a good place to advertise sales is there. I also always click on the "new posts" button...and new threads in the advertisers section would show up top of the list. A very good way to be seen!

I was okay with it until I saw the "Take this quiz" ad from Front Sight. Between them and US Concealed Carry, or whatever they call themselves, I must get 30 emails and four or five robo-calls a week. And now they're on my favorite forum. If they ever start sending me PMs, I'm leaving.
