    Default Red dot magnifier

I'm in the market for a red dot 3x magnifier. I can't afford an aimpoint or eotech so I was considering a vortex, bravo 2 zero, or a mako.

Anyone ever use these? Does it effect POI at all? I have never used one.

    Thanks!

I have a Burris Tripler for my Eotec and it is works great. You can find them for less than 200 if you watch for sales. Looked at some of those others but I have used Burris scopes and mounts for years on large bore contenders and never had a problem.

I have the Vortex magnifier with the QD and swing out mount. I am using it with the Vortex Sparc. Haven't had a chance to use it much but it seems to be well made.

I'm in the market for the same thing. I decided on a Vortex today and even made the call to order one. Problem is they are on backorder. I called the company Strikers and the number on the Vortex website. They are out of stock both places. Looks like up to 2 months out.

The thing I like most about red dots is the simplicity and light weight. Adding the magnifier seems counter productive to me. I have a lot of low magnification scopes 1x4, 1.25x4 and 1.5x5 mounted on AR's and think they are the best of both worlds. The red dot beats them for light weight and quick shooting hands done. Fumbling around with the added weight and complexity of a magnifier would probably change my opinion.

Are you going to run a flip to side mount or leave it magnified all the time?

The one I was going to get pivots to the side when not in use.

I am want to run it as a qd mount so I can swap it out with a pvs 14 for night time. Day setup will be an eotech 552 with a 3x mag on a qd mount. Night will be a pvs 14 on a qd mount with a 3x mag on it mounted behind the eotech. The pvs 14 will be mounted with a DLOC.

I have a couple customers that have bought the one Leapers offers and love them.

I'd seriously think about how much you need the 3X magnifier. I had an aimpoint behind my eotech and, while I liked the 3x, it added a lot of weight. Using the rifle for tactical drills, the extra weight became an issue for me so off it came. Its sitting in my safe for someday...If you need magnification, I'd suggest a 3.5x35 ACOG which works great on my Rec7.

I like that I'm getting all this info. Thank you everyone. However, I was more interested in people's first hand experience with the cheaper magnifiers (under $200).

How is the quality, glass, light in take, and do they shift POI. I'm not overly concerned with weight because this is a hog hunting rig. I don't run tactical drills with this at all.
