Thread: 6.8 Leupold

    Default 6.8 Leupold

I am looking for the best Leupold scope for my 18" Bison. I just looked at the Mark AR series and I like the way they look. I have several Leupold's including 2 Vari-X II's a Vari-X III and a Vari-X I.

I looked at the Mark AR series as they are moderately priced and look really good. Is there a benefit going with the Mark AR over the Vari-X series?

What is the best option for Leupold's in this range for the 6.8?

What is your purpose for the 6.8. Check out the VX-R too.

I deal with about 5%-10% of the population 80%-90% of the time...

Like OC said... We need to know intended use to provide recommendation. That being said, I run a Mark AR 4-12 on my lightweight 5.56 for varmints and the VX-R Patrol 1.25-4 on my ARP barreled 6.8. I've taken deer @ 250yds with the low powered VX-R. My Mark AR is designed for a 55gr 5.56, and my intention was to use it for smaller targets, sometimes at long distances, while the VX-R was for close range hogs and deer. Things seldom go as planned, but both have their advantages and both will do the job.

Mark ARs are fine. Pick the mag range you need and go shooting. For a little more the Vx-r patrol gives you matching mil/mil turrets and reticle plus illuminated reticle for low light shooting. If you're just point and shoot hunting and shooting the matching adjustments may not matter.

I like the VXR and the Bushnell Elite 6500 series, Bushnell has a 2.5-16x42 MIl Dot for under $600 which is a very good deal, I also have one of my like new Trijicon Accupoints 3-9x40 for sale at $600 also if your interested.
