A little leaking is normal, especially the set screw type blocks.
I bought an upper assembly a few months ago from Bison. I'm getting some black powder residue on the barrel in front of the gas block after each trip to the range, even after only a few rounds. So, there is gas escaping. Of course it wouldn't even be noticable if the barrel wasn't stainless or if the gas block was hidden. Gun function is fine and accuracy is acceptable and getting better. So I'm thinking this is not an issue, but figured I'd ask to be sure. It's an SPC barrel with low profile gas block.

Thanks for the reply. I thought so. And it is a set screw gas block. I'd still like to hear if Ben thinks this is anything unusual.
I get the same thing with my ss barrel and pri low pro gas block. Doesn't seem to be a problem though other than needed an extra wipe down.
It's normal...consider it self sealing, a little carbon build up isn't going to an issue as long as everything still functions, you're good to go.
I deal with about 5%-10% of the population 80%-90% of the time...
These fellows are correct. A little leakage is fine. As long as function is correct, there's no problem.
