Question How to attach accessories to my VTAC handguard

Got my Mega upper in today; very sweet! What occurs to me now (and should have sooner) is that the handguard has only a top rail, and being the noob I am, I have no clue how I can attach things like a bipod or even a sling swivel to the bottom. If there's some adapter that fits on this handguard for this purpose, I guess I need to be pointed in the right direction as to where to find it. Thanks in advance. -- BP

There wasnt a short rail with a couple screws that came in the box with it? They usually do but it has been a while since I bought one. They might have changed it. Is this the one that Is a Troy rail being made under the VTAC name? Or is the JP rail that is being made under the VTAC name? Either way you can go to Brownells or Rainiers and find accessory rails for your handguard and attach them then attach whatever you want.

Oops! I am such a dunce. Yep, I dug into the box and there certainly are rail attachments that were supplied! My bad. There are two short rail sections and one longer one. So glad they are there!

It looks like, though, I'll have to take the handguard off to do this, because the piece you screw the rail section into looks like it needs to be on the inside.

Yes it needs to be on the inside but you could do it without taking off the handguard. especially if you are putting it near the front of the rail. You might have to separate the upper and the lower and hold the upper above your head. LOL!!!! But you can do it without removing it.

My MI SS came with coffee stirrers to hold the backers in place while you attached the mounting bolts. High tech!

VTAC also sells a sling stud that mounts flush to the TRX, I use it for my Harris bipod mount and have had no issues, and rather enjoy not having to use a picatinny mount/adaptor.

What he said. Brownells also carries that exact same adapter for a little less. Yes, getting the rail sections on is a little tricky but you'll get it.

What Viking/Troy needs to come up with is a system of rail covers that just snap into the slits on the rail. That way you don't have to attach the rails and then put covers on them. It gets a little bulky. It's nice to have something to cover the VTAC because it's a little noisy in the woods and it's cold when it's cold outside. I'm trying to come up with something that just snaps on. I'll post here if I figure it out soon. Good luck.
