    Default Suppressor question.

For those of you who have shot the 6.8 suppressed how quiet would you rate it? I have a spot on one ranch I hunt right behind the formans house and horse stables I'm hoping not to wake his family at 3am. And then I have another place that butts up to a subdivision even though I legally can hunt there I prefer not waking the whole neighborhood up with multiple shots again at 3am. I'm having my .308 bolt threaded and I'm working up some 180gr subsonic loads for it but the 6.8 = more dead piggys.

    I haven't shot my 6.8 thru a suppressor,,, still waiting on my .308 suppressor(5/8x24).
    But i have shot .223, 22/250. .204, .17rem.,,
bolt guns and AR15,, thru my 5.56 AWC Raider Suppressor,(1/2x28).
I would describe the sound like a 22lr rifle in the bolt guns,,
and more like a 22mag in the AR format.

Also, with suppressor on and suppressor off,
you'll get a greater shift in the point of impact on the AR as compared to a bolt gun.
Example, my 22" barrel 223 bolt gun POI shift is 2" @ 100yd.
    My AR 16" barrel 223 will shift 7 inches @ 100yds.

I shoot my 20" 6.8 Bison Armory with my .308 suppressor. The sonic crack as about the same as a .22 LR about 50 yds. down range. The sound at the rifle is noisier than my bolt guns but not objectionable. If you load up some subs it will be much quieter. As to your situation, if you are within 100 yds of a residence, you will wake them it their windows are open. If the house is closed up it would depend on how heavy a sleeper they are.

I run the same surefire quick detachable on my 6.8 and 5.56. can shoot either without hearing protection and the report is equal to a 22lr. haven't done any subsonics yet.

At the rifle not bad, but the crack downrange is about .22lr quiet. My neighbors tell me it is impossible to tell where the shot came from but I never asked if they could actually hear it inside. My POI shift is only about 2 inches high at 100 yards with a AAC 6.8 supressor.

Has anyone used a surefire can? I'm interested in their POI shift.

I just went and shot some of the suppressed sbr's 5.56's that we have at work. I have to say I'm kind of dissapointed. To my ears they were way louder than a .22lr now in there defense we were shooting towards the metal bullet traps so I'm sure there was an echo from them. But on full auto they hurt my ears without hearing protection. They were AAC cans. I hope mine is quieter if not I wasted my money. P.S. I've been told mine will be quite a bit quieter with the 16" barrel vs the 10" I was shooting.
