Default Ugly Head Shot on a Sow

First pig taken with my 6.8, i haven't been hog hunting in ages. 85gr Barnes TSX, just above the left eye at around 80 or 90 yards. Missed a follow up shot on another pig running through the bushes, but it was a tuff spot in thick brush and i was a little excited cause i was down with them. No stand, no feeder. Just me and a bucket of nasty sour mash i put out. (I was sitting on the bucket, so i was putting off a nice stink as well. They came right to it after i scouted around and found where they had been rooting up in a low area.

The interesting thing about this wound with the 85gr tsx was that there was nothing, and i mean nothing left of the back of her skull, her brain stem or part of her upper spine. I forgot to take pictures after i skinned her out, she was fat as hell and i was covered in bacon grease, and i was missing out on dinner. But when i got the cape all the way down, it was the only thing holding the head on. The complete back of her head and spine was disentigrated and a large cavity down into her chest near her left front quarter was left. I'm utterly amazed at what this round did. I shot a spike earlier in the year in the jugular with this round, and again, it was devestating. The energy and destruction left this sow DRT. She didn't feel a thing. Anyways, cool hunt. I think she was about 70 or 80 lbs. Very fat pig. Thanks to Greg and Ryan at Double Drop Hunts.

Nice shot Bull. So when's the pig roast? Ribs and pulled pork sandwiches!!

Was it just the sour mash? Or was the sow just attracted to you?

First 6.8 Pig Kill : ) I've killed more hogs than I can count with my old .270.
