    Default late night shift workers?

There seem to be a lot of us on here late at night into the wee hours of the morning, are you guys just insomniacs or work in LE type shift work like me.

I am a deputy working in our local detention division,(specific location not listed intentionally) lots of module work and thus time on computer. What do the rest of you do, if you're willing to admit it.

What hours do you work? When I worked nights it wrutal as 6pm-5am. It was brutal going home after work so I stayed and worked out. If you live close to work it isn't a big deal. What I did to stay awake is I just moved around. Since you are inside, get up and walk around. Do this a lot. What you eat is very important. When I started eating right, I didn't even need coffee. Things like salads with Olive Oil and vinegar are very light and refreshing and keep you up, unlike the greasy ass food. Drink lots of water.

I try no manage my sleep by tightly controlling my sleep/wake/work schedule and eating right. with a family working out is time prohibitive. gotta keep up with the kiddo, although i am about to join a gym that does daycare. I never had a huge problem staying awake during shifts though.

I did work nights and mids when I was still in the Corps...now I work a true night shift, 7:30pm to 8am, luckily on a compressed work week. But I'm not in LE, I work at Intel. Been working that shift for 10yrs now, and just used to it.

Used to work rotating shift work, 3 swings, 3 mids, 3 days, 3 off. Not too bad. Then got to work permanent mids, still not bad. The bitch was pulling staff duty at Bn and Bde level. Worked 96 hours one week and only worked 4 days that week. Caught both week end and week day duty for both Bn and Bde that week, my ass was beat.
