    1) Do you spray it in prior to using the bore cleaner to keep any residue from adhering inside the gas tube?
    2) Do you use anything to clean the WD out after the bore cleaning process?
    3) Or, are you suggesting using it as a solvent afterward to clean any bore foam out of the gas tube?
    4) Would RemOil work just as good? (I can stomach using this on a firearm)

I don't want to speak for H, but I have used WD-40 for this purpose, as well as cleaning carbon off my BCG's for years, and never had any reside. That being said, I only use solvent oils when I need to remove carbon or rust, but I think that spraying it down the gas tube is safe, because you blow any residue out on the first firing after sending it down the gas tube. The stuff you are worried about dissolves better with a solvent , not lubricant oil. Therefore, I would not use Rem Oil for that purpose. Let the gun air dry with the action open after cleaning, and you should be fine.

Second, I want to say that I, too, have shot almost 400 rounds of 95 TTSX's through my S-carbed ARP 16" barrel and still have not cleaned it. I still am getting about 1-1.25" groups with that barrel at 100 yards. I am going to keep shooting it and not cleaning it until accuracy falls off. I followed H's general recommendation for break- in about 6 months ago when I got this particular barrel.

    Thanks. That makes sense.

I got the same barrel last fall, followed the break-in as outlined by H on his site. Cleaned a doe's clock with it, so I call it good. ;-) I haven't cleaned it yet with copper solvent. Any "rule of thumb" with regard to number of rounds, or just wait 'til accuracy goes south on me? I use Hoppes #9 on my barrels and every now and then, if I let it sit for an hour or so (which I usually do) I"ll get a little blue on the patch. Is that a sign of copper residue/buildup? Don't get it everytime I clean.

    3) Or, are you suggesting using it as a solvent afterward to clean any bore foam out of the gas tube?YES if they made alcohol compressed in a can with a little tube I would use that.
    4) Would RemOil work just as good? (I can stomach using this on a firearm)-Yes,
the flames traveling through the gas tube will burn anything off.

Mousegunner I've read those stories on how bad WD-40 is for your gun. I run ranches on a ATV looking for hogs and coyotes. Also goose hunt from time to time. Rain or shine! When the rancher calls me with a hog problem I go. My guns can get pretty dirty. My V-Match got so muddy one time you couldn't tell that it was black. When they get like that I just hose the gun down with water and then WD-40 to wick the water away and then a blast of what ever spray gun oil I have on hand. WD-40 works for that. I don't have gunk built up in the guns but I only use WD-40 to wick water away not as a lube.

After a couple hundred rounds of SSA and rem fmj rounds my barrel went from having swipe marks and a few blown primers to almost barely visible swipes and no primer issues.
Had one really bad batch of SSA ammo that caused some of the problems, but even the next batch that was all in spec and much more uniform and consistent still had some. Has everyone else had similar break in experience? Mine gets better the more I shoot it. I'm afraid to even clean it it's shooting so well now.
How many rounds have others put through their rifles before they thought they really had the carbed barrels broken in??
