H,
Is there any special break in process needed for the S-Carb barrels particularly the SPR barrels?
Thanks,
EW
just keep the copper cleaned out with a good foaming copper cleaner after shooting for the first 5 range trips, things should smooth out by then.
after that if you shoot 60-80 shots and the accuracy is fine but then starts dropping off it's a good sign to clean the bore, next time you may get 120 shots before accuracy degrades then 150 shots, it smooths out more and will shoot more accurately longer without cleaning.

was going to pickup some of the bore cleaning foam the other day for use on my 6.8 and 223 uppers but got to noticing they were saying not to use on auto rifles. How does one go about keeping it out of the gas port and any potential clogging that may occur if doing this. I have several that need a good cleaning but don't want to end up with a rifle that wont cycle due to gas ports being clogged up with foam residue? Anything you can flush down the gas tube that will work better than others etc? just looking for some ideas on this for those that have tried it. The foam seems the easiest way to clean up a barrel without worrying about damaging with a bristle brush etc. I've been using bore snakes so far.
spray some wd40 down the gas tube from the receiver end

Do the 95 gr Tipped TSX bullets seem to foul your carburized barrels very badly? I'm really wanting to use that bullet for hogs but if they're know to foul badly, I'd rather use 100 gr Accubonds.

I haven't noticed worse fouling from them, seems like I shot over 400 rounds when testing loads without cleaning the barrel.

Wipeout and Gunslick seem to be the most used foaming cleaners.
KG12 makes some good stuff but it isn't foaming and must be cleaned out of the bore, do not let it sit overnight.
After the copper cleaner use alcohol to clean the solvents out then run a patch of light oil, then a dry patch to remove the excess.

Really? WD40? I have an aversion to using that crap on an expensive firearm. I've seen it gum stuff up. Don't get me wrong, I'm not doubting you, but I would like to know:
1) Do you spray it in prior to using the bore cleaner to keep any residue from adhering inside the gas tube?
2) Do you use anything to clean the WD out after the bore cleaning process?
3) Or, are you suggesting using it as a solvent afterward to clean any bore foam out of the gas tube?
4) Would RemOil work just as good? (I can stomach using this on a firearm)
Don't mean to be contradicting you, just want to understand the rationale for using WD.
Thanks,
Ty
