Never fed deer myself but with hogs, if you feed them and leave the food there all night, they'll eat at night. Ring the dinner bell or breakfast bell at just before dawn or early evening and if they don't come around, take the food away. If I can't get them, they don't eat. Doesn't guarantee success but saves feed.

I hear ya Dredge. I am having the same crappy luck as you. It is even worse because I see them every night on the game cam but never during the day. I was talking to my cousin the other day and he said to just throw some corn on the ground to get them coming to the site. Then the next time you go throw some more and then hunt it within the next 6~8 days and you should see some. I have a buddy that is finished for the season at our lease and he is going to let me use his stands that are in another part of the lease. He always sees activity when he is maintaining the stands so hopefully the change of scenery will help me out for the last month of the season. Right now I am so frustrated I am ready to put a 6.8mm slug thorugh the next crow I see at my feeder and watch the feathers fly.

how is that worse??? it's the same damn thing...lol. i'll tell you one worse tho. yesterday evening i left at 6:15p.m. cuz i couldn't see crap...even thru my elite 4200 which is way brighter then my binos...anywho, i check the camera today and wouldn't you know one finally came in at 6:24p.m.....so tonight i stayed out till 7 hoping to atleast see some flashes on my camera and nothing....hahahahahaha. t-bones...wooda been cheaper...lol. maybe now the ruts starting to fade out they'll start worring more about eating. i cut my already short feeding times down maybe without so much corn on the ground they won't start jst comming in when ever the hell they feel like it. if it's windy tho this one particular feeder will dump some corn.

good luck to you, i got me two nice big culls i want to take off. jst got in this place this years so hopefully next year will get better.

Same here Dredge, out near Waco. Nice bucks at night, but none during the day. Finally saw a real nice one day after thanksgiving.... was going to fill one of the feeders and he was right there, lol. No rifle ready. So i hunted it and hunted it... came away with a spike. I'm going to try in a week or so again, I've got too much work to do at home. I'll hunt for 5 or 6 days straight.

I'm not a yearly consistent deer hunter, but it seems awfully lean this year somehow. Out where I go, the old-timers say they used to be able to limit out, but not this year. Slim pickins.

I wonder if poaching has any sort of factor in this? Sometimes it seems like it could be too easy to get away with since game wardens are spread out thin.

You know I was talking to a friend one day a while back and he was talking about making a feeder that can be covered so that he could uncover it when he was in the stand and then cover it back up when he left so they could not feed when he was not around. I wonder if we were to do something like that and then when you left throw some corn a few times to get them used to coming in to the stand area. Wonder if there would be some kind of way to make a feeder that covers itself that is linked to a timer. Hmmm may have to put on the engineering hat and see if there is some way to make this work.

i think someone already makes one. it's got a lid on it and only opens during the day. that way corn isn't on the ground for them to come in anytime they want to eat it. don't have a link or anything, but i saw while googling this nocturnal deer issue i'm having.

on our lease, there are so many acorns on the ground the corn is piled up under the feeders

deer just don't need to move, I am going to stay off of our lease for a few weeks
Need a few more hard freezes and a few days rain

I am headed out to my bud's place this weekend which has no hunting pressure and doesn't have a ton of oak trees!
