    Cool Read this one...

    http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_c..._gunfight.html

Hit the perp 23 times and yet he is still alive....proof of either really accurate fire, with 21 bullets carefully placed to miss the vital areas on the perp.... or really poor marksmanship. Probably the latter as 2 officers were hit by friendly fire, one in hand another in the vest.

It's an interesting story I've been following. I had to laugh at some wag who responded to a poster saying "How do you get shot 21 times and live? with "9mm?".

How many times have we seen Joe Dirtbag hit so many times he looks like a piece of swiss cheese and he lives and a good guy (LEO or otherwise) hit once and die?

You can't beat this quote: "It's justified, but messy."

I'll go out on a limb here and say that the outcome would have been much different had the NYPD carried 10mm Glocks 29s.

One witness complains that NYPD never yelled Freeze or Police. Duhhh! I'll bet if someone started shooting at him/her that they would say "hold it man, let's talk about this".

So true. It is funny how everyone who has never been in a situtation like that seems to turn into super sunday armchair quarterbacks.

I didn't see that in the article. Do the NY officers really depend on FMJ? I would have thought all police forces would have switched to some sort of expanding bullet...

It really speaks to the amazing architecture of the human body that sometimes a person can withstand multiple (in this case, many) gunshots and live. Here in my town a cop shot a student twice with his .223 AR15 carrying, if I remember right, Hornady TAP. Hit him once in the jaw, the bullet going all the say back and lodging just off his spine. The guy's paralyzed, but alive.

I wonder what was going through these NYPD cops' minds as they saw the perp absorbing all those shots without going down--it's gotta make a nightmare scenario even worse.
