    Default 6x42mm(SPC)

The SPC necked down to 6mm and trimmed lightly to 42mm will push a 95gr SMK to around 2900fps from a 20" barrel. 60 and 70 gr varmint bullets to 3200fps. It would be a nice varmint round and even do better than most at high power.
Sizing the brass is a one step procedure in a 6.8 bushing die and then trimming and load a usual, no neck turning. Is there a place for a cartridge like this?
The 6WOA is a SPC necked down to 6mm but it was held full length and cannot shoot the 95 or 107 bullets, 80s are about as much as it can handle.
Don't get caught outgunned, step up to the 6.8mm

I wouldn't be interested in one. What I can't "varmint" with my .22LR, I can with the .223, what I can't with it... I can with the .22-250, or with my .30-06 loaded with the Remington Accelerator (55gr .223 with a plastic sabot to allow it to fire from my -06 @ 4080fps and 2000+ft/lbs of punch)

I've been thinking about some new envelopes to push lately, like the 6 X 45, since I hunted with 6mm Remington for almost 20 years.

I love the 6mm bullets but never was a fan of the .243 Winchester. So, the 6 x45 barely reaches .243 Win velocity, whereas the 6 X 42, now that might be something to look into.

I already have TONS of 6.8 brass, and if the process is easy and the bolts and mags are the same (as I presume they are), I might be interested.

    Not bad rabbit!

    Thats supersonic to 1200 yards.

Actually, here's a quick list off the top of the pile.

    SUPERSONIC RANGE
Maximum Range where velocity remains above 1075 fps

    7.62x39 - 123 SP @ 2300 - 600 yards
    6.8x43 - 115 SMK @ 2575 - 750 yards
    5.56x45 - 62 gr M855 @ 3050 - 875 yards
    6.8x43 - 110 AB @ 2630 - 900 yards
    7x46 UIAC - 130 SMK @ 2650 - 975 yards
    7.62x51 - 150 SMK @ 2750 - 1025 yards
    6x42 - 90 FMJ @ 2900 - 1025 yards
    8x57 - 197 FMJ @ 2600 - 1175 yards
    7.62x51 - M118LR 175 SMK @ 2600 - 1175 yards
    6x42 - 95 SMK @ 2900 - 1225 yards

OPTIMAL GAME WEIGHT > 100 lbs RANGE
Maximum Range where OGW remains above 100 lbs
And with proper bullet selection can be expected to put down *game* up to 100 lbs
Actual value is related to momentum x energy, a very balanced indicator

    5.56x45 - 62 gr M855 @ 3050 - 150 yards
    7.62x39 - 123 SP @ 2300 - 250 yards
    6.8x43 - 115 SMK @ 2575 - 350 yards
    6x42 - 90 FMJ @ 2900 - 375 yards
    6.8x43 - 110 AB @ 2630 - 400 yards
    6x42 - 95 SMK @ 2900 - 500 yards
    7x46 UIAC - 130 SMK @ 2650 - 550 yards
    7.62x51 - 150 SMK @ 2750 - 700 yards
    7.62x51 - M118LR 175 SMK @ 2600 - 900 yards
    8x57 - 197 FMJ @ 2600 - 1150 yards

Interestingly, only the 8mm Mauser retains sufficient OGW and killing power out to its full supersonic range!

I would be interested in something like this in the future. I have a 16" LR-308 and now my ARP18" 6.8. I also have a rem. 700 in .243 and had thought about getting a .243 upper for the LR. For the cost of an LR upper I would probably go with something like this over that. I could use 6.8 brass which I will have and common bullets between the .243 and 6x42 (for plinking) and have a lighter package than the LR. Those velocities look good and the ability to shoot the heavier bullets with better BCs appeals to me. My 700 doesn't like the heavier projos.

    Ratdog,
What kind of range are you using those accelerators at? That looks like a fun project for my TC pro hunter .30-06. I just wonder about stability at longer range.

After you get the BRX you will forget about a bunch of stuff LOL
There is nothing flatter in a AR, and probably not as accurate either.

I was shooting a plain old 5.56 22" PN at 573 yds Tues I think , really only had 5MOA comeup and the 75gr Hornady OTMs shot pretty well considering an 8mph cross. I need to find a new place to stretch the BRX, 4 and 500 is too easy.

I am sure once I get the BRX it will fill any gap I may think I have.... I am worried about it replacing my 20 inch 68 SAM-R as my plinking rig.

I started using those rounds before I bought the .22-250. I never had to go beyond a couple hundred yds with 'em though. They'd probably be a joy to shoot out of your T/C... almost NO recoil. They're spendy though... probably pushing $40/box nowadays. They were $17/box when I was using 'em. I just wish I could get some of the sabots for them to reload some.

I have two 26" barreled spaceguns in 6mmWOA. My 107 grain velocities are around 2750 fps. I haven't tried my 95 SMK's yet, but doubt I will gain 100 fps over the 107. These are long loaded by the way. No way would I be able to get 2750 fps if held to 2.260" OAL. They use up too much case capacity to be loaded that short.

How are you getting 2900 fps from a 20" barrel? Is the case blown out to hold more powder?

For magazine fed loads I'm using Hornady's 87 grain HPBT. They can be driven to 2800 fps easily and feed and function fine. They have a B.C. comparable to military issue M80 7.62X51mm, virtually identical velocity, drop and drift. It's a very accurate bullet, but hard to find in stock. They sell out rapidly. I got email notification a couple days ago that Widener's had some in, by the time I went to their site they where gone.

I also considered buying some of Sierra's 85 grain Game Kings. If they are true to form, they should shoot great. When loading 165 grain SPBT Game Kings using my 168 grain data (.308) I get stellar accuracy. I was hoping for the same in 6mmWOA.

6mm bullets are truly amazing for accuracy. They just seem to shoot well.
