Thumbs up Just a quick "THANK YOU!"

While I stuck a little bit about me in the introduction thread as I should.......I had to jump in here within the "hunting" section.

I sat out this AM looking for loads, ballistics, bullet choices and most of all some EXPERIENCES of those using the 6.8 SPC for hunting simply because I plan to be ordering a Thompson handgun for the round. That is I was going to if I could find the INFO I NEEDED and it WAS what I thought it would be. I CANNOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU GUYS HAVE ON THE 6.8!!

Yep, Sorry guys, I'm a "fish from another pond" and MY 6.8 will be a single shot handgun to practice with all summer on bean eaters and then hammer some walking venison come November.

Lifetime license and legaly I can take 9 deer in my county alone (only one buck) and I EAT a LOT of venison ......when I have it. LOL. 2 deer from November are gone.

I wanted to get back into handgunning for medium range again since the current places I have (with no hunters) are pretty much 100-200 yard ranges for most the deer seen, AND I happen to love it too of course.

I studied the 243 rounds, the 7mm rounds, the 308 class, bigger, smaller, wildcats.......*sigh*.........and kept coming back to the 6.8 SPC for several reasons. Recoil, ballistics, cost, efficiency and......oh, you all know all Im going to say!! Plus NOW I can add one more to the list. ALL THE INFORMATION I HAVE HERE TO USE! Holy Crap on a Cracker!!

I AM A HAPPY CAMPER to find SO MUCH on a single round available here. I am more than amazed!!

Sooooo.... just a short THANKS GUYS!!!! I tip my camo hat in respect and gratitude for all your work and sharing here. The loads, bullet info, hunts you've shared.....and those you will share......are a dream never even dreamt for me on this round.

Hopefully, in some way I can give back as well. Most my time will be in the loading and hunting section and I've nothing to add here but.........I am just so downright flabbergasted at finding all this info I had to say something.

    God bless!

    Steve,
Just a note on the Thompson TC. If you order any ammo from SSA, make sure you check the box that says something about using it in a Thompson TC. The weaker spring in the TC needs a softer primer.

    Just an FYI for ya.

    Default Noted!

There are springs available of different stiffness and Ill be loading my own after initially buying new but that is news that could have saved me tons of headaches trying to figure out what the rip was going on.

Might even just be best to strat with empty brass and go from there with that info.

    THANKS!

Welcome to the forum Steve. This forum is about the 6.8 round not the particular gun it is in. We like to know all about what happens with each type of gun. If there were proper spec bolt guns there would probably be a lot of them sold.

    Talking Appreciated!

One of the cool things (but costly sometimes) about the TC barrels is there are lots of gunsmiths making barrels or simply rechambering current ones. Some of the custom barrels really arent that much more than the factory ones. I may (hint, hint) run into someone here doing the rechambering too if it's advisable.

I'll stick a post in the section on reloading for those that are kind enough to share past experiences they or others had with a TC.

Not completely ignornant. Ive loaded enough ammo to know what areas not to stick my fingers in while working the press from decades of varminting but I'm sure I'll still learn a lot with the more time I spend here.

One of the many cool things I like on the 6.8 is that it was MADE to shoot out of these barrel lengths. No more "figuring out how much velocity lost" comparing factory ammo in 24 inch barrels. Most times anyway.

I've got thick skin so any comments will be taken in stride. After 3 marriages, it takes lots to get me upset. LOL.

    IVE HEARD IT ALL.....so eh.

I appreciate being accepted here and will try to not be a PIA........too much anyway

    God Bless!
