Don't know if this has been posted or what this guy is blasting at those hogs, but this looks like a lot of fun!

I've seen that before... Makes perfect sense, it's what needs to be done... I don't ever understand why ppl say "Oh, I hope I got some pigs on my place." No you don't... From the sound of it and the quick follow up shots, he is shooting something suppressed, probably an AR in 5.56 or I guess it could even be 6.8. All I have to say is that helicopter pilot is amazing. Perfect timing when he would circle around and he kept those hogs pretty damn parallel to the copter... The shooter was pretty good as well... He had some awesome leads on those running hogs...

I know around HTR's place one of the families that owns a ton of land uses compters to keep the pigs down.... I think they said the guy used a shotty though....

I can see how using a chopper is a good way to keep feral animals like hogs in check. Do they collect the hogs for meat or let them feed the predators so they don't go after farm animals?

I'm not in one of the 39 states that has the wild pig problem.

That looks like a blast.

I wonder if that will be the next write up from HTR.

If you read the comments by the OP on YT, he says he's shooting an AK. Altho he later says a shotgun's easier. He also comments at one point that the AK shells hit the rotor of the helicopter. Probably changed his shorts a couple of times doing this gig.

We do that about once a year on the place where I hunt. The ranch owner hates them.
We have used a shotgun and a AR10. Believe it or not the AR is much easier with a red dot of some sort on it. With a good pilot, he should be flying the same speed as the pig, therefore no lead is needed. Just put the dot on him and shoot. With a large boar, it may take two or three shots with the buckshot to down him. With the 308 it's one shot and it's all over.

I doubt I'll ever be able to "sell" such hunts, but I can absolutely assure you that my getting in the chopper, with a pilot and killing pigs is already in motion, right now. Obviously, I am very excited to test the 6.8 out in aerial pig blasting. I have already designed the rig for it. :a01:

A couple of bunji's in a v hooked to the roof of the aircraft really help..........

One of my good friends is a ranch manager down in south Texas and he said he got to do this recently using an AK based 12 gauge (I'm assuming a Saiga). He said it was the most fun he's ever had and that it's much harder than it looks.
