With the TTSX's and the TSX's I dont think HTR has ever recovered one of the bullets from any of his hogs....

I have had pass thru on occasion with Speer 130gr hotcore. I shot a black bear twice with 110gr TSX and one was a pass thru the other lodged in far shoulder.

that is very impressive given the size and shorter barrels of the 6.8. i'm still curious to hear more, especially regaurding meat hogs and sierra pro hunters.

Two hogs shot with 110gr TTSX fully penetrated, five shot with110gr and 130gr Accubond did not fully penetrate.

Headed back to the ranch on Sun, hopefully will have more data soon (-:

We got 86 doe permits so will be doing a lot of shooting this season...............

I have seen 80gr GS HPs, 85TSXs and 110 TSXs pass through corner to corner.
The 80 GS was doing about 3340fps the 85 TSx around 3150 and the 110 TSX about 2800fps.
Hog was close to 275, killed by Sean at HTRs

As above, I have never yet recovered an 85 TSX, 110 TTSX, or 80 grain GS custom bullet from any hog. I have killed hundreds with these bullets. I shot one last year, with an Accubond, 110 grains, and it stopped in the near side shoulder. Thus, I now only shoot hogs with the GS, TSX or TTSX. I see no reason to use anything else.

I shot two weeks ago that was 300 lbs and the 85 grain TSX went through both shoulders even after being fired from a 12" WOA barrel, at a distance of 207 yards.

I've killed over 100 hogs (up to about 275#) on my Central Texas ranch in the past two years, most of them with my 6.8. When I first built it I shot Hornady VMax because it was about the only factory ammo that I could locate at the time. As you might imagine, there were almost no pass-thru's. I tried some SSA Pro Hunters and liked them so much that now that I'm reloading I use the Pro Hunter bullets exclusively.
I've had many pass-thru's, particularly on neck shots, and the exit wounds are usually quite large. I often use body shots on the smaller hogs with the same result. On about 5 occasions I've intentionally shot "doubles," waiting until two small hogs lined up so that I could get both with one shot. On all but one occasion, both pigs were DRT; on the other the back hog went down but required a second shot.
I have always used my trusty Savage 30-06 for deer hunting, but was so impressed with the performance of the little 110 Pro Hunter bullet that I used it this year and killed a nice buck. No pass-thru on the deer, as it was an angled shot, but the buck was DRT with massive internal heart-lung damage. The more expensive bullets might perform better, but they sure wouldn't make my hogs any more dead. I'm 100% sold on the Sierra Pro Hunter as a medium-game bullet.

what was the size of the two shot with 110 tsx?

a 222# (weighed which means it was a 300# + "estimated" hog), in front shoulder and broke the shoulder out the armpit on the back side

140# sow hit in the midsection (CCoker shot this one (-: sorry Charles) clean pass thru

At this point with my limited experience with the 6.8 I prefer the 110gr TTSX and the 130gr Accubond for hogs, I'll know a lot more in a few months.......................

TTSXs have gone through everything I have shot

holy crap, 86 doe permits?

you could feed most of Cuthand with that much meat!!!

I like the performance of the TTSX but hate paying for them and really want to try shooting a few hogs with the 110 prohunters in the shoulder to see what happens

Absolfreakinglutely incredible! I don't have a single recovered 85gr TSX or 110gr...and one of the 110s was literally head on front to back!

And so far as I can recall, HTR has none recovered either...

EDIT - I think I've basically repeated what everyone else has said...
