I plan on going on my first boar hunt in florida this winter and I need a scope for my 6.8. This gun will also be used for some deer hunting back up here where I may have some shots as far out as 200yds. I kinda want something that will be well rounded.
I curently have a Leopold Mark AR 1.5-4 x 20 on my 5.56 AR mounted in Warne rings. I dont realy need it on that AR and was wondering if it would do ok on the 6.8 or if it would be to under powered for long shots. Or if I should just ditch that idea and get something else for it.
Thanks for the help and opinions.

I think 4x is plenty for 200 yards. Use your 1.5-4x20.

Or use it as an excuse to buy another optic! You know you just gotta have a lit reticle for hog hunting. They only come out after dark. I think you just can't go without a new Trijicon TR24. :a39:

it would work fine
having said that, if you just want a new scope, I really like my accupoint 1-4
it accounted for a few hogs demise over the weekend

First off i how much do you want to spend, and something up to a 10X is what I like, multi functional, deer, hog, caribou, two leggedbears at 300 meters

This is one subject I actually know a lot about............
6x-8x magnification, 40mm objective minimum, quality glass and illuminated reticle are all required.
My short list of suitable scopes are as follows listed from least to most expensive.
Simmons Master Series AETEC 2.8-10x44 illum
Hawke Eclipse 30 2.5-10x50 illum
Bushnell 4200 Elite 2.5-10x50 illum
Trijicon 3-9x40 green dot
Trijicon 2.5-10x56 green dot

Cool. Thanks for the input guys.
I think I'll run the Leopold for now and see how it does. I'm sure it will be during the day on the boar hunt so an illuminated scope wouldn't be needed. I would love to go at night, but I don't live down there and time is place don't allow it.
