Think everyone needs to take a look at this link if you haven't seen it already. I heard it doesn't work for some people, so if it doesn't, try and find it on youtube.
Sergeant First Class John C. Beale died for my FREEDOM, Michael Jackson did not. Sergeant First Class John C. Beale IS a hero, Michael Jackson was just an entertainer.
Killed in action the week before, the body of Sergeant First Class John C. Beale was returned to Falcon Field in Peachtree City , Georgia , just south of Atlanta , on June 11, 2009. The Henry County Police Department escorted the procession to the funeral home in McDonough , Georgia . A simple notice in local papers indicated the road route to be taken and the approximate time. Nowadays one can be led to believe that America no longer respects honor, and no longer honors sacrifice outside the military. Be it known that there are many places in this land where people still recognize the courage and impact of total self-sac rifice. Georgia remains one of those grateful places. The link below is a short travelogue of that day's remarkable and painful journey. But only watch this if you wish to have some of your faith in people restored.

I posted this in the other thread also:
And other than the local news there was not a single talking head that even acknowledged this event. I can say no more as it would then be censored and I would be banned. Yes, I am very, very angry at our so called news media.:mad::mad:

It is a good reminderthat we still have young Warriers in harms way. It is especially emotional and humbling since I have 2 sons currently active military. The Marine is home on leave right now. I'm going to go give him an extra hug and say a prayer for that Warriers family. Later in the week we're gonna go shoot something and enjoy a little of that freedom that SSGT Beal paid the ultimate price for.

Im also proud to live in the SOuth, where some things havent been forgotten. Im sure that brought some tears to the eye of SSGT Beale as he looked on from above.
On a side not, ever since 9/11, everytime I hear Lee Greenwood's voice, the floodgates start

I am glad someone posted that thread. Thank you.
I had almost lost all hope in America's ability to show due respect for men and women in uniform, but that video restores a lot of lost confidence. It is heart warming to see the change that has taken place in the last 35 years. But then...I served when being in the military was not given the respect it is today.
I came home from VN in 1972 and had my dress shoes spit on in the San Francisco Airport. I went to a party near Reedley Calif with another buddy I served with and was asked by a Fresno State college student how many women and babies Don and I had killed. She told us we were both criminals for not refusing to serve. When she learned I had volunteered for Vietrnam...she got up, ended the "conversation" and left. Such responses from the public were common then. Being in uniform made you a target for every Hari Krishna, war protester and Flower Child. The ONLY people that gave you any respect...were other veteran's. Even your family questioned your motives for serving. The general public then...could care less. After the Kent State shooting in 70...all of us in uniform were considered to be the enemy.
Slowly respect for our military has returned and I am so glad to see the change. Finally our servicemen and women are receiving the respect they so richly deserve. And yes...the South still sets the example for the rest of the US to follow.
Too bad that the media is still living in 1972...

Thanks for the link and to my fellow veterans, thank you for answering our country's call. I make it a point to educate my young ones about service and sacrifice so that they will carry on the tradition. I would love to see the same participation in every procession when one of our heroes comes home.

Not just the media, they're in our education, legislative, and judicial systems in various forms and levels...
Many thanks to all who served, and especially to the families of those who paid the ultimate price. Some of us do remember.
As the son of a man that served 27yrs in the Navy (active & reserve), if I ever see someone spit on a serviceman or woman, I do not think I could control my response.

Speaking on education, when I went to school they taught the preamble to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. My brother (seven years junior) did not see this in his teachings.

Luckily my young ones are getting a good education at our local public schools. The curriculum includes the declaration of indedependence, constitution and the entire bill of rights. After a recent business trip to Philadelphia, I returned and presented a framed copy of each to the principal and vice principal for the school. They were both very enthusiastic and they were used in the classroom as teaching aids this past year. It is my understanding that they are going to be posted in a public area of the school come the begining of this coming year.

Very moving tribute to a fallen warrior. It should be that way each time a warrior comes home...

May Sgt. Beale rest in peace in Gods arms, and may all those who have left us meet with us again in Gods kindom.
I want to thank all of our brave, you are second to none, and always in my thoughts and prayers.
My daughter lives on Tyndall AFB in FL. with her two babies and Airman husband, an F15/F22 Tech. Since moving there and having the privilege to stay on base a few times, I've had the honor to meet and make a few great friends there. One is a Shirt with the Raptor squadron there, he was just deployed to Qatar and my heart and prayers go out to him and his family...a great guy.
My two nephews, one a two time Iraq war vet and purple heart recipient with the Big Red One, the other fresh out of basic and tech school, both were deployed to Afghanistan two months ago....my thoughts and prayer to them too, and all our brothers and sisters who serve.
Two of my brothers are Nam vets and they've told me story that bring tears to my eyes about the disdain and hatred some scumbags had for Nam vets, its sickening. I pray this nation will return to a place of honor and decentcy, respect and love for our forces.
We need to clean out the Progressives from this nation who are mostly the 60's type radical extremists who spread this disdain we vets experience.
As a member of the American Legion and Veterans clubs, coming from a long military family, my dad an MP under Patton, and several uncles, even aunts who served both in Europe and the Pacific, I meet so many from our older generation who didn't experience this disdain and dishonor from the people, They were treated as the heroes they are, but somehow, during the 60's and on, men stopped being the men God intended them to be and unfortunately, some of that has not gone away, especially in Berkely and San Francisco, CA., the home of tens of thousands of Nancy Palosi's and Barbara Boxers.
When the Navy was going to hold Fleet Week a few years ago in San Francisco, a lot of these scumbag Communists, Socialists and Marxists protested and told them they weren't welcome. What a disgrace for American citizens to be like that toward the very people standing in harms way to protect even that freedom of expression. Its the same regarding the Westboro Baptist Church when they show up at our brave fallen's funerals and shout profanities and nasty slander at the grieving families. Thank God for biker groups like the Patriot Guard Riders who ride in honor of our fallen and protect the families.
On the flipside, its heart warming to see when entire communities gather to pay respects for our fallen, and just as warming when our troops return home safe to fanfare. I love visiting my daughter and grandkids on the Gulf Coast, expecially around patriotic holidays, but even the rest of the year, you see one flag after another flown, and ribbons on trees, as well as big billboards and store fronts with signs everywhere thanking our troops or welcoming them home.
God bless our Military, LE, First Responders ands Intel...be safe guys, come home soon and safe...as the real heroes you are to the majority of Americans. We will never forget the sacrifices of your families either...the unsung heroes!
