New to the forum and to mounting any optics to an AR aside from an ACOG or Aimpoint.

I recently purchased a MK12 Mod 0 clone and a trade got me into a Nightforce 3.5x5x50mm optic. I've seen pics of members on ar15.com using ARM rings and multiple others. If someone could point me in the right direction as far as proper mounting height or which rings would work with this scope, I'd really appreciate it.

I have no experience with ARMS mounts and have always used Larue on my AR and Badger Ordnance on my 700 PSS.

Thanks for any help.

Ok, let me ask you this. With the swan sleeve and the 50mm objective...If i were to go with the Larue LT-104 mount, would I still have a "standard" cheek rest? Might sound like a dumb question but I'm just concerned with some of the scopes appearing to sit kinda high.

Appreciate your patience, just want to make sure I get it right the first time.

Any rings that are over 25mm from rail to center optic should work (counting that the bell diameter and not the lens diameter is 50mm, if it is just the obj lens in the measurement, you may have to go higher as the bell might be 52-54mm). I can't really make any reccomendations on rings past that.

I'd get the LT-104. The top rifle in this picture would be your exact set-up, minus the sleeve of course. It's sold as a combo by LaRue. http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactic ... bok?no=218 (http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=218).

Here's a 44mm scope (for reference) in the LT-104 over a smooth handguard. The LT-104 gives about the perfect height IMHO.

Larue raises your sight centerline to 1.50" which is nearly identical to your iron sight's height. You HAVE to have at least a 1.250" rise to clear a 50mm objective. Anything less will not work. I've used Badger Ordnance Navy contract rings and love them. I think they are 1.270" or 1.275". Got them through SWFA. I also like the Larue but prefer the cleaner lines of rings alone.

The Mod 0 is already raised 1/2" due o the rail on top. The ARMS Medium Rings should work with no problem. If you contact ARMS and tell them your set-up and the scope you plan on using, they will recommend the ring height, which I'm sure will be the medium rings will work. The Larue or the ARMS high rings will work, but your scope will sit up a little hi.
