I can get PRI 10 rnd mags from Brownells for around $33. The 10 rnd bodys appear to be the same as the 5 rnd bodies on the PRI Website. Can a block be inserted so it only holds 5 rnds for hunting purposes? I didn't see 5 rnd mags offered by brownells. Thought I could save a little cash on hunting mag. Was thinking a Wood block cut to fit under the base plate between the plate and spring.

I ordered the 5 round mags for hunting, they are fine. I didnt look into seeing if I could take the 10 rounders apart to make them 5 rounders or not. I just buy a few of each and stock up on 25's

Last I checked Midway had some 5 round PRI's for around $40.00. 8) What kills me is they are the same price as the 25' ers, but have way less material. go figure.

Or you can spend a fraction of that on a 5 round magazine from C-products. Mine has been reliable.

No thanks, reliability is always an issue with c products. I'd rather spend the money on something I know is going to work. 8)

I would love to send my money to C-products, but the only reason to shoot a 5 rnd mag is for hunting, & I will be loading my own hunting rounds and want the extra room to load to a longer OAL that the PRI affords. All of my other mags are Cproducts for 5.56 & 6.8.
AS far as mags being reliable. I don't consider any mag, C products, PRI, Barrett etc reliable until I shoot it with my rifle and verify function over several sessions. My 1911 mags get the same treatment.

You could probably locate some of the old restrictors, a piece of bent spring steel, that Colt and others used to block their twenties to ten and five shots. Trim to length. Lots of people disassembled the restricted magazines after the ban was lifted and would be glad to help you out.
Wood works too.

I've a 10 round PRI mag I just took apart. If you make the block right, there should be no reason why you shouldn't be able to do what you suggest. If you're not familiar with PRI mags, there's a bottom metal, another plate which goes underneath to prevent the bottom metal from slipping off (has a knot which fits a hole in the bottom metal, spring pressure keeps the plates together). You'd have to shape the block to fit the mag body, but it looks doable.

Wood works too.
Just be sure that the wood is finished so it won't attract moisture and cause problems with rusting spring or body.

This is what my 5 round PRI came with as a block. A thin piece lexan or acrylic plastic that fits up through the springs. I made the black one in just a few minutes.
