I am looking for a FAST scope to mount on my Remington AR-15 for deer drives in Wisconsin and have narrowed my search down to the Swarovskki Z6i 1x6x24 EE vs. the Nightforce 1x4x24. My questions are:
1. Both the Swarovski Z6i 1x6x24 EE & the Nightforce 1x4x24 have a F.O.V. of 100' @ 100 yds. The difference being the eye relief as the Swarovski has a more forgiving eye relief of 4.72" vs. the 3.75" that the Nightforce 1x4x24 gives you. I was thinking that with bulky warm clothes being worn in the cool fall Wisconsin weather, the extended eye relief might not be a bad thing to have. BUT...
1a. During deer drives in Wisconsin, I get rather warm during the drive, so I have a tendency to strip off a few layers of clothing. This being said, the Swarovski Z6i 1x6x24 (WITHOUT the extended eye relief) has a F.O.V. of 127.5' & both the Nightforce and Swarovski have a eye relief of 3.75". Would it be worth it to gain 27' F.O.V and sacrifice 1" of eye relief?
2. Is a 27' gain in F.O.V. more beneficial than the 1" of eye relief I would be losing????
3. Is it worth the extra $1000 to get 2x more zoom????
