AAC's Blackout comes in both 18 and 51 tooth configuration. Why? Whats it utilized for?

Different models of silencers from AAC require different mounts. The teeth are part of the ratchet mount for their silencers. The 18 tooth mount is shared by the 762-SD and the M4-1000. The 51 tooth model is exclusive to the M4-2000.

If you have ARs in 6.8 and 5.56 one silencer will work on all of your rifles.

Scenario 1:
Buy a 762-SD and use it on AR-10s, and AR-15s in just about any caliber with a .308 diameter bullet or less. All you need are extra mounts. If you later decide that you want a dedicated can for your 5.56 rifles, buy an M4-1000 and you don't have to change mounts. Of course this doesn't even take into consideration other wepons like bolt guns or FALs, but you could.

Scenario 2:
Buy either an M4-2000 or an SPR/M4 bored to 6.8SPC, and use it on a 6.8 Ar-15 and your sub-.277 bore AR-15s. Again this doesn't factor in bolt guns or other weapons, but you get the idea.

Take stock of the weapons you have to silence and decide which would be the better fit for you.

Hope this helps.

Thanks! I've never bothered to apply for a Class III though... Getting my CCW down here was enough of a pain compared to Pennsylvania, I could only imagine trying for that!

I don't know if they have them or not. I was browsing AAC's website, and seen that there was two diffeent types of Blackouts. From what I could tell since the webpage isn't loading completely, it was just something with the number of teeth.
