Hey guys, I have a 2AA housing on my NV and the clip that hold the batteries in broke on one side, does anyone have experience with the 1AA housing vs the 2AA? I mean battery life, weight, durability? I was told by the guy who I bought my my mount from that the factory 2aa battery housing was a manufacturing defect and it didn't utilize the 2 batteries correctly and they didn't last as long. He said if I got the single AA battery housing, that it would last a little longer. Any truth to this? Anyone know a cheap supplier for pvs parts? They price these parts like people with pvs14s have money...

Hey Brother, yea those clip were the main problem with the AA versions. Folks were always losing and/or breaking them. As for longevity of battery duration, maybe you gain a few hours vs. the single battery. Still looking 38+ hours continuous use with the single A batt. The single batt housing has a much better brass interior, along with O-Rings and a beefed up lanyard shroud and of course an aluminum tethered battery cap.

You can see a complete parts list on our web site here with some pretty darn good pricing. :-) http://www.tnvc.com/shop/category/night-vision-parts/pvs-14-parts/

Thanks.

I had TNVC purge my old Omni IV PVS_14, and switch the battery from two AA to one AA, and it works great. The lens was cleaner when I got it back, and it lasts just as long, IOW, at 36-38 hours, I only have to replace the battery about every 3 months.

the single AA housing is MUCH better, IMO. I hated the clip cap.

Ya that little snap clip thingy just seemed cheap to me. I got mine for a deal that would make most tear up. I'm new to the NV game and everything just seems so cheap on them. "no bigger than a 556" "buy the $289 housing" "mounts range from $119 to $1199" ...I guess I expect more from something so expensive.

Right tool for the right job....Actually truth be known that PVS-14's were never ever designed for weapon mounting. ITT Patent talks about this it was designed for a 5.56 carbine and with the use at that time of the Mil-Spec weapons mount for designated marksmen roles. Our new TM-14 is revolutionary nowadays for a true quick detach using a Aimpoint twist base. Helmet to weapon transition is 5 seconds or less and vice versa. Also, while utilizing the Aimpoint Twist Base, (killed two birds with one stone...), one can use the AP 3x magnifier for their day RDS.

We see a few other companies who use marketing schemes claiming this or that and putting PVS-14's on .308's which is crazy. We then hear and talk with many folks who say, "hey if a .308 works, about my 300 WM and 338's?". When does this all stop, because we're then talking about a SERIOUS safety issue. We've had enough failures over the years to know the brittle mount points were NEVER intended for high recoil. Get a dedicated rifle scope or clip on for the bigger boomers. Keep the 14 on your head and put an IR laser on the gun is the best way to use a 14 and the most versatile especially any larger than a 5.56. :-)
