I ordered one today. Local dealer is offering transfers for $10 for members of a local gun forum. I don't really need it at this time but plan on eventually building the boy a 5.56 AR. This looks like it will be just what I need for him.

Does anyone have a Palmetto lower and a SSA lower on hand to compare finishes, I just used a Aero/SSA upper receiver to finish building an upper and I want to get the lower that will match the upper the closest, so does Palmetto use the same dark black finish that comes on the SSA lowers?

Right now the SSA lowers are only $10 more so it's not a big deal but I would like to get the Palmetto lower instead if the finish matches, I don't want the lower to be a different shade of black than the upper.

I don't have them side by side to compare, but have owned both in the past and can answer yes to your question. Aero is making them for Palmetto so I can only assume that the finish is identical.

It's hard to tell from the pic's on palmetto's site but their lowers look to be a flatter and maybe lighter color than the ones on SSA's site which look bark black like the upper I received, I just want to make sure before i order two of them, maybe I should just order one of each.

The pic I posted over in the thread about the ACE pistol buffer shows my mocked up pistol. That is a Palmetto lower (one of the Joe Wilson models) and an Aero upper from the GB we ran here toward the beginning of the year.
